Scott Shipley Interview By Christian Lamitschka For Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
Scott Shipley is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and a sixth generation ‘card-totin Hillbilly’ from the Missouri Ozarks. Born into a family with a musical background, Scott began performing at the age of five. After announcing to his parents at the age of three that he was “going to play music for a living” when he grew up, they went into the studio and hit the road. His first bunk on the family tour bus was a bus wheel. He literally grew up on the road. In his four and a half decades in the business, Scott’s travels have taken him across 48 states, five continents, and 27 countries. Scott has been blessed to share the stage with many of his musical heroes such as Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Porter Wagoner, Kid Rock, and many others in every genre of music. Known for his ‘without a net’ style, his performances range from edge of your seat lightning fast Bluegrass, to classic Rock & Roll, to deep swamp blues, to his own unique brand of Hillbilly music. He’s as likely to cover an Edgar Allan Poe poem as he is to do a Johnny Cash medley.
When performing solo, he incorporates a bevy of instruments from guitars of every flavor, to dulcimer, mandolin, banjo, pedal steel guitar, harmonica, drums which he plays with his feet while playing guitar with his hands, What makes Scott unique is also the very thing that has driven him his whole life. Total and complete passion for his craft, and the most unique way to deliver the goods. No one can truly define him in a few words, and no one can pigeon hole him into one genre or class. Scott Shipley provides an escape to a musical paradise built within his mind, full of a tapestry of colors, sights and sounds to take the listener on a unique journey everytime he performs.

Sarah Owen, Hudson Valley Band, Interview by Nigel Sharpe for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
Hudson Valley is a female-fronted band rooted in country vocals with a rock-infused sound and delivered with a healthy dash of sass, like only lead singer Sarah Owens can. Forming in Nashville Tennessee in 2018, the singer hit the ground running with Richie Owens(drums), Andrew Kosek(bass) and Matthew Farinelli(guitar). The foursome combined their influences in the rock, punk rock, and country music genres to create a sound that is authentically and uniquely Hudson Valley.
Hudson Valley has quickly become a Music City staple selling out venues such as The Listening Room, 3rd and Lindsley, and The Bluebird Café. They have earned themselves coveted residencies with The Sutler Saloon, Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, but most recognizably with Blake Shelton’s Ole Red where the band plays weekly. Hudson Valley has opened for major country acts such as Rodney Atkins, Jerrod Neiman, LoCash, Josh Turner, and most recently Little Big Town.

Sam Grow Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
After the breakout success of his first studio album, 2019’s Love and Whiskey, a lot has changed for Average Joes Entertainment star Sam Grow. That milestone project followed years of grinding work, writing his own tunes, booking his own shows and recording his own EPs … but it was all rewarded.
Love and Whiskey hit Number One on iTunes’ Country Albums chart – doing so with zero radio airplay – and since then he’s only poured more gas on the fire. Grow’s 2020 single “Song About You” burned red hot, pulling in more than 50 million streams and getting named one of Spotify’s “Best Country Songs” in the process. Grow’s been featured on Billboard’s coveted “7 Country Acts To Watch” list, and touted by Music Row as a sure-bet for future superstardom, among other accolades, as the temperature continues to spike.

Rodney Crowell Interview By Nigel Sharpe For Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
With more than 40 years of American roots music under his belt, Crowell has also been cited as the architect of Americana music, extending his genre reach, but owing to the distinctly universal, literary quality of his writing, he has also penned beloved songs for artists as diverse as Bob Seger, Etta James, the Grateful Dead, John Denver, Jimmy Buffett and countless others.

Rhonda Vincent Interview By Nigel Sharpe For Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
The Grammy-winning Queen of Bluegrass Rhonda Vincent began her professional music career at the age of five, singing with her family’s band, the Sally Mountain Show. She picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at twelve, performing with the family band at festivals on weekends. Rhonda struck out on her own, singing with the Grand Ole Opry’s Jim Ed Brown. Her opportunity eventually led to a deal with Rebel Records. Her work caught the attention of Giant Nashville’s president, James Stroud, who signed Vincent to record two contemporary country albums. After Giant, she signed with Rounder Records where her passion for traditional bluegrass music flourished. With the release of her debut album “Back Home Again,” “The Wall Street Journal” crowned Rhonda Vincent the New Queen of Bluegrass. She’s a multi-award winner, with a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album (2017), Entertainer of the Year (2001), Song of the Year (2004), and an unprecedented 7 consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association (2000 – 2006). Her powerful vocal style transcends the boundaries of bluegrass music, as evidenced in her collaboration with Dolly Parton on the Elton John / Bernie Taupin Tribute Project “Restoration” 2018. Rhonda Vincent’s lifelong dream came true when she was invited to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry on February 28, 2020.

Pi Jacobs Interview by Nigel Sharpe for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
Pi Jacobs draws inspiration from her unconventional upbringing in “The Land of Weed and Wine” aka Northern California. Blending roots-rock swagger and storytelling soul, her music has drawn comparisons to Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, and Lucinda Williams. She has been heard on NPR, DittyTV, Austin Music TV, Americana Highways, American Songwriter Magazine, and regularly on tastemakers KCSN, WFUV and stations across the nation.
Los Angeles musician Pi Jacobs is amplifying the concert experience on Live From Memphis, an inventive new album that places eight original songs alongside the personal stories that shaped them. Recorded with a full band, the project offers a sincere and sometimes funny look at her formative years, her family relationships, and even a few lessons she’s learned along the way.

Paige King Johnson Interview By Christian Lamitschka For Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
In a quiet North Carolina town 22 miles south of Raleigh, as a young 9-year-old girl, Paige King Johnson spent her days imitating the styles of Loretta, Patsy, Waylon, and Merle. Having a grandpa as her biggest fan also meant receiving the gift of her first guitar – a baby Taylor – and enrolling in lessons. After her grandpa passed, the bright-eyed dreamer carried on his memory by taking her newfound discovery to local fairs, festivals, and any other stage she was allowed to stand on. As she grew older, Johnson added “opening act” to her resume, supporting chart topping artists like Kane Brown, Oliver Anthony, Joe Nichols, Gabby Barrett, Diamond Rio, Scotty McCreery, Kylie Morgan, Neal McCoy and more. And with high school graduation came the realization that this was more than a hobby. The Angier native traded in horse pastures for the bright lights of Music City in 2015. Upon starting school at Belmont University for Music Business, Johnson honed in on the magic that had heavily influenced her as a child: the art of storytelling thru songwriting.

Now he lives and creates in Nashville, TN.

Michael Ray Interview By Nigel Sharpe For Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
For Michael Ray, music is his grandfather singing and sweating on a rural Florida stage. It’s the childhood refuge he found during the pain of his parents’ divorce. It’s family and stories, history and hope. Ray says music saved him, but it did even more: Music made him. In five short years, Ray has built an impressive foundation: four No. 1 songs – RIAA Platinum-certified “Think a Little Less,” RIAA Gold-certified “Kiss You in the Morning,” RIAA Gold-certified “One That Got Away” and “Whiskey And Rain” – plus “Get to You” and “Her World or Mine,” brings his tally to four Gold-certified singles. The poignant “Her World or Mine” from his sophomore album Amos also produced a video that has captured more than 27 million YouTube views since its debut. Now, two hit albums into that all-too-rare blend of critically acclaimed and commercially successful career, Ray has released Higher Education, a seven-song collection produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Ross Copperman. Proof that heartbroken wallowing can feel good if it swings, “Whiskey And Rain” has garnered over 104 million streams, cementing Ray as the ideal bridge between vintage country cool and modern country’s best sounds.

Megan Knight Interview by Nigel Sharpe for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
Megan Knight is an incredibly soulful and impassioned singer-songwriter, born in Southern New Jersey. The poised influence of her writing reveals a powerful singer willing to risk what it takes to push the limits as far as they will go. Knight’s music is strongly defined by its contradiction; which radiates with confidence and vulnerabilities that outline a perfect balance between modern and classic sounds, that pull inspiration from many different genres.

Makenzie Willox / Shovelin Stone Interview by Nigel Sharpe for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
With roots embedded in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and a sound unhinged in the capital of Texas, Shovelin Stone is a music almost as unique as the friendship it stems from. A shared passion for old-timey bluegrass is what brought Makenzie and Zak together, but it’s the unknowing joy for the moment and the obsession with the complications that life brings that continues to push the duo forward. Within heartfelt lyrics and a unique musical composition the indie folk sound that projects from these two is not only going to get the audience thinking but
on their feet.
With the addition of multi-talented bassist, cellist and mandolin player Russick Smith, and rock drummer Brett Throgmorton, Shovelin Stone is gearing up to release their sophomore album recorded deep in the Appalachian Mountains with Grammy winning producer Chance McCoy of the Old Crow Medicine Show. With songs about longing, love, and the hunger to be heard in this big world, it is hard not to relate to these four on their quest for success. The road is winding but one thing is for sure that with Shovelin Stone at the wheel it’s going to be a wild ride.

Liz Moriondo is a singer, a guitar player, a songwriter, a dreamer. Her dynamic voice is a force of nature. Just give her an audience and you’ll witness a young woman doing exactly what she was born to do. She’s always had the biggest of the big sky plans.
