Whiskey Myers Serving Up Potent Shot of ‘Firewater’ April 26

Texas-based five-piece mixes strong cocktail of Southern Rock and Outlaw Country with upcoming release

(Nashville, Tenn. – March 29, 2011)  Outlaw Country and Southern Rock outfit Whiskey Myers is releasing their raw but righteous sophomore album, titled Firewater, on April 26.

Led by vocalist Cody Cannon and the twin guitars of John Jeffers and Cody Tate, Whiskey Myers has emerged as one of the Lone Star State’s hottest musical exports with their 2011 effort.  Produced by ex-Shooter Jennings guitarist and songwriter Leroy Powell, Firewater is distinctly Southern Rock-oriented, yet inventive enough to incorporate the band’s heart-on-their-sleeve Country and Blues influences.

The Tyler, Texas-based group, rounded out by bassist Gary Brown and drummer Jeff Hogg, wrote nine of Firewater’s 12 tracks, with producer Powell contributing three songs.  The resulting album pieces together a compelling narrative of the band’s small town roots and the realities of life on the road for an up and coming band.

“We know people are going to compare our sound to bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, and that’s fine, we take that as a high compliment,” says Whiskey Myers lead singer, Cody Cannon.  “But when they hear this new record, they’re gonna find out that there’s a whole lot more to this band.  We love Country music, we love Rock, we love Blues – we just love to jam, period.  It doesn’t matter to us where the music comes from, it just matters that it’s real.”

Firewater
’s lead single, “Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd,” was released regionally in Texas and is currently approaching Top 20 status on the Texas Music Chart.   The five-piece group earned their first Top 10 hit on the chart several years ago with “Lonely East TX Nights” and a pair of Top 15 singles with “Summer 2005” and “Road of Life.”  All three songs were released from the band’s 2008 debut, Road of Life, which has independently sold more than 15,000 copies to date.

After drawing significant industry attention in Nashville, Whiskey Myers signed in 2010 with international booking agency, William Morris Endeavor.  The group has since opened up for some of Country music’s hottest acts, including Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and Randy Houser.  They continue to share stages with fellow Texas favorites like Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers Band and Eli Young Band.

About Whiskey Myers:
Whiskey Myers’ debut album, Road Of Life, established the five-piece from East Texas as a worthy heir to the Skynyrd blue-collar tradition.  The group’s sinewy sound and intense musical interplay is the foundation of their live show, and their hectic touring schedule (close to 150 shows in 2010) is testament to their prowess on stage.  The band’s sophomore release, Firewater, is a formidable mix of Southern Rock and Outlaw Country and solidifies Whiskey Myers as a genre-blending diamond in the rough whose music has captured the attention of fans and critics alike.  Produced by Leroy Powell, former guitarist for Shooter Jennings, and recorded at the famed Panhandle House in Denton, Texas, Firewater is set for release on April 26, 2011.  Visit www.WhiskeyMyers.com for more info.
