The legacy of Loretta Lynn, the undisputed Queen of Country Music, continues to resonate through generations. Now, her granddaughter, the exceptionally talented Tayla Lynn, is set to release a deeply personal tribute with her upcoming album, ‘Singin’ Loretta,’ slated for release on May 30th through Heart of Texas Records in partnership with StarVista Music.

This isn’t just another collection of covers; it’s a heartfelt conversation across time, a granddaughter honoring her iconic grandmother by breathing new life into some of Loretta’s most beloved songs, alongside a few cherished deep cuts. The first taste of this poignant project arrived with the premiere of the single, “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind),” which, as Whiskey Riff aptly noted, proves the timeless power and enduring relevance of Lynn’s classic catalog.

‘Singin’ Loretta’ promises a journey through the heart of country music history, offering both familiar comforts and delightful rediscoveries. Fans can look forward to stirring renditions of chart-toppers like “Rated ‘X’,” the wistful “Blue Kentucky Girl,” the empowering anthem “One’s On the Way,” and the celebratory “You’re Lookin’ at Country.” Adding an extra layer of intimacy are the inclusion of lesser-known gems such as the raw and honest “Out of My Head and Back in My Bed” and the dramatic storytelling of “The Titanic,” offering a broader glimpse into the depth and breadth of Loretta Lynn’s artistry.

The release of ‘Singin’ Loretta’ arrives at a significant moment, coinciding with the Grand Ole Opry’s centennial celebration. As part of their year-long “Opry 100” festivities, presented by Humana, the legendary institution will launch a special series titled “Opry 100 Honors,” sponsored by Dan Post. This series will pay tribute to the artists who have been instrumental in shaping the Opry’s first century.

Fittingly, the inaugural “Opry 100 Honors” show on May 13th will be dedicated to the one and only Loretta Lynn. The evening promises to be a moving tribute, featuring performances by a stellar lineup of artists deeply connected to Lynn’s legacy, including her sister and fellow Opry member Crystal Gayle, her granddaughter Emmy Russell, the duo Twitty & Lynn (comprised of Lynn’s and Conway Twitty’s grandchildren), and Opry members Martina McBride, Carly Pearce, and Ashley McBryde, among others.

Dan Rogers, the Opry’s executive producer, eloquently stated the significance of this tribute: “As we continue our OPRY 100 celebration, we’re excited to open the door to the Opry’s next century and to laud each of the Opry’s current members. It’s also important to us to honor some of the iconic artists of the past who helped the Opry achieve worldwide acclaim and ensured the show’s longevity. We’re looking forward to this series featuring the music of artists who became household names and whose legacies the Opry will still be celebrating in another 100 years.” Upcoming “Opry 100 Honors” shows will also celebrate the legacies of Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash (June 18) and Charlie Daniels (July 8), with more tributes to be announced.

For Tayla Lynn, music has always been an undeniable calling. From a young age, she shared the stage with her grandmother, absorbing the energy and magic of live performance. Her journey has included collaborations with esteemed songwriters like James House, Gary Burr, Leslie Satcher, and Jon Randall, and a stint in the country trio Stealing Angels, formed with Caroline Hobby and Jennifer Wayne under the mentorship of Anastasia Brown. The trio toured extensively, even performing for troops overseas, and worked with Grammy-winning producer Paul Worley.

Life’s journey then led Tayla to Seattle, where the vibrant local music scene reignited her passion. Upon returning to Tennessee, she reconnected with her musical roots, performing alongside her grandmother and eventually forming the successful duo Twitty & Lynn with Tre Twitty in 2018. Their energetic performances have garnered them over 100 shows annually, culminating in the release of their debut album, ‘Cookin’ Up Lovin’, in April 2024.

‘Singin’ Loretta’ isn’t Tayla’s first solo homage to her grandmother. In 2022, she released ‘Tayla Lynn Sings Loretta Lynn,’ laying the groundwork for this deeply personal follow-up. Continuing to write with collaborators Mark Narmore and Scott Baggett, Tayla masterfully weaves her own life experiences with the timeless stories of the women who paved the way in country music.

More than just a singer, Tayla Lynn is a multifaceted artist – a comedian, an actress, and above all, the proud granddaughter of a legend. Her voice carries the weight of heritage, yet her spirit is uniquely her own. Through raw honesty and soulful performances, she forges a genuine connection with her audience. As one half of Twitty & Lynn and co-owner of MEPOP Records and their own booking agency, she honors her lineage while boldly charting her own authentic path.

Beyond the bright lights of the stage, Tayla is a devoted wife and mother, a passionate advocate for sobriety and spiritual healing, and a captivating storyteller known for her ability to evoke both tears and laughter. ‘Singin’ Loretta’ is more than just an album; it’s a testament to the enduring power of family, legacy, and the timeless magic of Loretta Lynn’s music, lovingly interpreted by her granddaughter.
