TAKE THE WEEK OFF WITH DERIC RUTTAN ON OCTOBER 15
RUTTAN CO-WRITES BLAKE SHELTON’S TOP 10 COUNTRY RADIO HIT “MINE WOULD BE YOU”
TORONTO,
ON – Straight off a blistering closing performance and three
nominations at the 2013 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA)
Awards, Deric Ruttan is set to release his fourth studio album Take The Week Off (Black T Records / Universal Music Canada) on October 15.
This news follows a milestone in Ruttan’s career, as he recently
co-wrote a song that is the current hit single for The Voice judge and
Country music superstar, Blake Shelton. The track
titled, “Mine Would Be You,” is sitting at Top 10 and Top 20 at Country
radio in Canada and the US respectively (Mediabase).
Ruttan’s
latest album features the fastest rising single of his career, “Take
The Week Off,” which was the #1 Most Added song week of release
(Mediabase) and is currently #14 on both the Mediabase and BDS Country
charts. Recorded in Nashville, TN the album was produced by Ruttan and
Grammy-nominated producer Luke Wooten (Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley) and
features co-writes from Ruttan’s friends including Ryan Tyndell (Eric
Church) Rodney Clawson (Luke Bryan), Brett Beavers (The Band Perry) and
David Lee (Lady Antebellum). On October 16, Ruttan will kick off the
26-date Your Town Throwdown (YTTD) tour in Summerside, PEI alongside fellow Country musicians Chad Brownlee and Jason Blaine.
Coming off my last album, Up All Night – Deric Ruttan Live, it was important to me to keep that feeling of energy going on this studio album, and I guess as a result, Take The Week Off is
a little more aggressive and adventurous than past records of mine have
been,” says Ruttan. “But, it still has several of those more intimate,
reflective moments, where the band falls away and it’s primarily just my
voice and a guitar.  I think on the whole, this is the strongest
collection of songs I’ve released.  I’m looking forward to playing some
of these songs on the Your Town Throwdown tour with Chad Brownlee and Jason Blaine, as we make our way across the country this fall.”
An
accomplished singer-songwriter, Ruttan is as well-known for his own
radio hits including “Main Street, 1979” and 2010’s Most-Played Canadian
Country song of the year, “Up All Night,” as he is for the songs he has
penned for other artists such as Dierks Bentley, Eric Church and most
recently, Blake Shelton. Ruttan’s 2003 debut single, “When You Come
Around,” found itself on the Top 10 Played Songs of the Decade’ list at
Canadian Country radio 2000 – 2009. In 2012, he won his eighth SOCAN
Award for his co-write with Jim Beavers and Jason McCoy on “She’s Good
For Me.”
His 2010 release, Sunshine, garnered him a JUNO Award nomination for Country Album of the Year and his follow-up, Up All Night – Deric Ruttan Live, won him a 2013 Country Music Association of Ontario Award for Album of the Year.
