Steel Guitar News April 9. 2012

Hello fellow players,

Here it is a couple days after the big party. Many of you came and were here and a few of you weren’t. I’m fascinated in the interest so many of you had in history and the old steel guitars. I enjoyed seeing so many of you that showed up.

When David Jackson and I got a break, we went off and talked about the design of the new guitars. I am fascinated with the work David has done. These are wonderful machines, weigh very little, but are full sized and no compromises made between these and other guitars weighing much more.

I don’t know how many David sold here on the spot, but he seemed to be very pleased with the trip he made coming in.

The music by those sitting in was incredible. I must spotlight aggressive players such as the great Eddie Dunlap and Rusty Rhodes. Rusty played better than I’d ever heard him which I did not expect. I did expect Eddie to play well but not as well as he did.

Most of these boys played lead guitar also and did everything very tastefully on a Fender Telecaster. Either of these guys could be a lead guitar player in any group I’ve ever heard. They take a back seat to no one. I’m so proud of both of them. I don’t know how we did it but we sold several guitars and amps in the four hour period.

Next time we have one of these parties, you folks need to come by and see what you’re missing. We’ll have pictures and videos up in the next couple of days. Talk about fun, we had it!
