“Dads & Daughters,” new song from
MaRynn Taylor is a touching tribute to the bond between girls and their fathers

Review by Preshias Harris for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

There’s a special bond between daughters
and fathers.  For most little girls, her
father is the first man she looks up to. When she’s ready to start a career,
it’s usually her dad that she goes to for advice and guidance.

MaRynn Taylor has that kind of special
relationship with her own father, and that was the inspiration for her new
single, “Dads & Daughters,” released in early June (and already impacting
ahead of Father’s Day, celebrated in the USA on 21 June). The song is now
available to stream and download on all digital platforms.

“Dads & Daughters” showcases MaRynn’s
clear and slightly breathy voice over a subtle backing of acoustic guitar and
strings in this gentle, mid-tempo ballad. It traces the bond between a girl and
her dad from the first time he sees her when she’s born:

“Ten little toes, she has his nose

And the blue from her mother’s eyes

His hands are shaking around that pink
blanket

He hopes he was holding her right”

The song follows that relationship until
dad tries not to cry when he gives her away to another man on her wedding
day.  The song is sweet and touching
without sinking into sentimentality, and the production captures MaRynn’s
remarkable vocal talent. And yes, that’s her dad’s voice in the background
vocals. This touching ode to her father (and fathers everywhere) was written by
MaRynn Taylor and Jason Earley, and produced by Forest Glen Whitehead.

MaRynn has come a long way since she came
from Rockford, Michigan, to Nashville at the age of 17 during the 2019 CMA Fest
and went to Black River Entertainment’s first ever 60 Second Spotlight,
a performance opportunity for aspiring musicians, songwriters and singers to
perform for 60 seconds in front of Black River’s executive staff. Her music
career almost ended before it started: she and her mother arrived at the Black
River booth just as it had closed for the day. She chatted with the Black River
staff who invited her to sing for them anyway. Five months later – on the
morning of the 53rd Annual CMA Awards – MaRynn signed her recording
and song publishing deals with Black River Entertainment.

“Dad’s and Daughters” is a fine first
release from a singer with great musical future ahead of her. More about MaRynn

Personal note from Preshias:I feel the same way
about my father. I connected with MARynn’s song like so many others can. My dad
gave me his kidney on July 7, 1976 and this was the gift of life for me. So, thank
you MaRynn for this special song!  It’s
evident from the lyrics that MaRynn has the same loving feelings for her
parents as I do for mine.

As MaRynn sings: “There’s nothing stronger
than a love between dads and daughters.”

 “My
parents have supported me throughout my entire life. They drove me to
every open mic night, listened to every song I’ve written, and have
always believed in me. I am so lucky to have them as a constant support
system. I know my parents are proud of “Dads and Daughters,” and I am
thankful for all they have done to get me here; I couldn’t have done it
without them.” — MaRynn Taylor
