NASHVILLE, TN – (August 8, 2011) – On Tuesday, August 2, The Palm restaurant paid tribute to two-time Grammy Award-winners, Riders In The Sky, with a mural on the famous walls of the exclusive downtown eatery.  Rider’s guitarist, Ranger Doug, had this to say: “Sports stars, movie stars, country music stars, Nashville’s most vivid personalities…the only thing missing among the Palm’s portraits was singing cowboys.  What an honor and a delight to be the ones chosen, and I’m happy to see our smiling faces beaming down upon the very well satisfied diners at Nashville’s premier dining experience.” Well-fed bass player Too Slim said: “Like The Palm restaurant, we’ve been ‘bringing good beef to hungry people’ our entire career, so it’s a delightful honor to have our portraits etched onto those august, celebrity-adorned walls. Lucky diners can now gaze upon our ageless faces, contemplating our juxtaposition with Warren Beatty, as they dig into the finest grub east of Pecos River.”

This honor comes as the never-ending trail drive continues with the release of their long-awaited inspirational CD, The Land Beyond The Sun, out Tuesday August 9th. The CD presents a collection of songs of inspiration recorded in the western tradition that their legion of fans expect, along with a poem indicative of “America’s Favorite Cowboys’” left-field humor which has been their trademark for nearly three and a half decades!

As the world’s premier purveyors of “Comedy & Western,” Riders In The Sky have been keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of Pioneers, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. Their efforts have been recognized with two Grammy Awards, an induction into the Grand Ole Opry and the Western Music Association’s Hall of Fame, seven Western Music Association “Entertainer of the Year” awards, and five Academy of Western Artists “Western Group of the Year” awards. In addition, Billboard magazine’s Jim Bessman counts them as one of “the most historically significant acts in the history of American music.”
