Remembering Joan Rivers

Remembering Joan Rivers

“Though
her death is no laughing matter, her life was nothing but.  I know she
would want us all to keep smiling.  And I know we always will when we
think of her.  Rest in peace, Joan. We will always love you.”
– Dolly Parton

“I
am in shock.  My heart goes out to Melissa and Cooper and the whole
family in their time of sorrow.  Joan was an endearing person and always
took care of everyone she came in contact with, including her fans.  I
spent a lot of time with her in Las Vegas and we shared a lot of laughs
together.  Whenever I could, I went to shows to hang with her.  Early
on, Edgar came to me and said, ‘If you need anything, just call’ and I
took them up on that.  From then on, they became close to me – they
became family.

Out of everybody, she
never said a harsh word about me.  She said, ‘Would you hurry up and
have another hit record so we can become like Michael Jackson and
Elizabeth Taylor.’  One morning we went out on a golf cart to pick up
all the golf balls at a Las Vegas casino resort – I’m sure that made
more than a few golfers angry but we couldn’t stop laughing!

The world has lost a great comedienne and person, and I’ve lost a dear friend.”  – Harry Wayne Casey (of KC and the Sunshine Band)

“I’m
extremely devastated to hear the news of Joan’s passing.  This is a
lady that not only inspired my career with her amazing talent but was
also the one to introduce me to the producers of my first show which
kicked off my 30 year career of impersonating her.  Whether she knew it
or not, she was not only a good friend but also like a second mother to
me.  My heart also goes out to Melissa Rivers, who was not only Joan’s
daughter but probably her best friend.  In this trying time, my prayers
go out to Melissa and her son Cooper for their loss.  I can’t imagine
what my world is going to be like without having Joan in it every day.
If in any small way I can keep her legacy alive in Las Vegas for years
to come, it’ll truly be my honor.” – Frank Marino
