Rock The Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival Raises Over Half a Million for Ocean Conservation

The
seventh-annual Rock The Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival, in partnership
with Live Nation, hosted fans from all around the world this April for
three days of fun-in-the-sun, musical entertainment with the aim to
raise awareness and funds for Rock The Ocean’s conservation efforts.
Celebrating World Oceans Day on Saturday (6/8), Tortuga Music Festival
marked the impressive milestone of raising $532,000 at this year’s
festival, with funds going to the Rock The Ocean’s Foundation to
continue protecting the world’s oceans. The festival takes nods from its
namesake (Tortuga is Spanish for turtle) and strives each year to
educate fans on the issues facing oceans, while directly seeing how
proceeds from the festivities happening at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park in
Fort Lauderdale, FL are making an impact on the five core issues Rock
The Ocean stands for: turtle conservation, shark conservation, coral
reef degradation, marine pollution and overfishing.

“This year’s Tortuga contribution is fantastic! To date we have raised
over $2 million dollars for the cause,” said Chris Stacey, Founder of
Rock The Ocean. “My favorite part about what we are doing is funding our
partner organizations, many of whom are local to Fort Lauderdale. They
are the true “rock stars,” that work tirelessly to save our seas all
day, every day. A huge thank you to our partners at Live Nation, and all
of the artists who played, for supporting the vision of a festival that
can be both a great party and give back significantly to our cause!”
