Three Time Grammy Nominee and Singer Paulette Carlson
Lands Spot as Nashville Veteran’s Day Parade Grand Marshal
Three time Grammy nominee, CMA/ACM award winner and lead singer of Highway 101, Paulette Carlson, will grace the nationally recognized Nashville Veteran’s Day Parade as Grand Marshal on Tuesday, November 11th at 11am
Where:
Nashville, TN
Parade Starts: at 14th Ave & Broadway
Parade Ends: at 3rd Avenue
When:
Tuesday, November 11th @ 11am
“It
is quite an honor to be asked to be the Grand Marshal in such a
prominent parade which has gained recognition nationally,” Carlson said.
“I always attend a parade each Veteran’s Day because I am a patriot and
it’s important to honor my dad and brother who served in World War II
and Vietnam (respectively), but this is my first time being invited to
be the Grand Marshal.”
As
a successful songwriter and longtime military supporter, it’s no
surprise Carlson was selected to lead this year’s parade in Music City.
Carlson penned the song “Thank You Vets” from her critically acclaimed album It’s About Time, which was a project she created for the 2005 “Operation Homecoming” event in Branson, Missouri for Vietnam Veterans.
“My
late brother, Gary, served in Vietnam in 1968 with the 82nd Airborne
and in 1969 with the 173rd Airborne; he was a medic. He was 17 when he
landed in Vietnam and was convoyed up to Hue in the first days of
February 1968 after the Tet Offensive, which was one of the largest
campaigns of surprise military attacks by the Viet Cong and North
Vietnam Army on South Vietnam throughout the Vietnam War. My brother
spent his 18th, 19th and 20th birthdays in Vietnam.”
Carlson’s
brother is not the only military hero she looks up to. Her father
served in World War II in Pacific Theater as a radio operator. “Dad even
survived a crash in Burma up in the mountains of the Himalayas and had
to navigate his way out of the jungle. He also had the honor of flying
with Academy Award Nominated Actress Paulette Goddard. He was so
impressed with her charm and beauty he named me Paulette!”
The
Nashville Veteran’s Day Parade has been a Tennessee Capitol tradition
for over 60 years and is one of only five parades recognized nationally
by the Department of Defense. The parade features floats, antique cars,
local military groups and supporters, local business and charities, and
nearby high schools’ marching bands, etc.
Carlson also recently signed with longtime booking veteran Gerald Murray Music LLC.
“I
am pleased and thrilled to add the award-winning Paulette Carlson to
our roster of dynamic artists,” said GMM/CEO Gerald Murray. “She is a
great writer, singer and to top it all off, a great thinker. I believe
we will do really well together.”
Gerald
Murray Music LLC is a full-service booking agency, representing
nationally recognized performing artists. As former manager of the late
George Jones and Vern Gosdin, his impressive music roster includes
Shenandoah, Doug Stone, Bryan White and others.
“I
am so delighted and eager to work with Gerald Murray Music LLC.,”
Paulette Carlson said. “I look forward to building a long working
relationship with a top-notch company.”
