Award-winning country powerhouse Pamela Hopkins is back with a fiery declaration of independence in her latest single, “Me Being Me,” released on April 18th, 2025. This unapologetic anthem is the newest offering from her critically acclaimed album, “Lord Knows I Ain’t No Saint,” a collection already recognized with nominations from the Arkansas Country Music Awards and the International Singer Songwriters Association. The album has become synonymous with Hopkins’ signature blend of raw honesty, Southern sass, and deeply felt emotional grit, and “Me Being Me” fits perfectly within this powerful sonic landscape.

Penned by the esteemed songwriting trio of Vickie McGehee, D. Vincent Williams, and the late Jim Femino, “Me Being Me” is a full-throttle celebration of self-acceptance. From the opening driving instrumentals to the no-holds-barred lyrics, Hopkins firmly plants her flag in the ground, owning every facet of her identity as wild, free-spirited, and utterly unapologetic. The defiant chorus serves as a potent dismissal of societal pressures, with Hopkins delivering the lines, “If you don’t like what you see / I don’t know what you want me to tell you, darlin’ / That’s just me / Me being me,” with a conviction that is both infectious and empowering.

While the track brims with attitude and a rebellious spirit, it also carries a profound personal significance for Pamela Hopkins. The song was initially presented to her by the late Jim Femino, a figure whose mentorship played a crucial role in shaping her songwriting journey.

“Jim was in the hospital the day we were supposed to meet in Nashville,” Hopkins fondly recalls. “I offered to bring him anything he needed, and we ended up just visiting and talking music. He played me some songs on his laptop from his hospital bed, and ‘Me Being Me’ was one of them. It instantly felt like my story.”

Although originally recorded alongside other Femino-penned tracks for her debut album, Hopkins intentionally waited to share “Me Being Me” with the world, holding onto it until she felt her voice truly did the song justice. This patience speaks volumes about her respect for the material and her artistic integrity.

“This one always hit home for me, and the title of my latest album actually comes from a line in this song,” she explains, highlighting the deep connection she feels with the track. “Jim passed away a few years ago, and I never got to co-write with him like we planned. But I’m honored to carry a piece of him in this release.”

Hopkins’ signature powerhouse vocals, delivered with her characteristic blend of strength and vulnerability, perfectly complement the song’s defiant edge. She navigates the driving melody with ease, injecting each line with a palpable sense of conviction and self-assurance. The instrumentation is equally compelling, providing a robust and energetic backdrop for Hopkins’ commanding presence.

With a growing collection of charting singles, numerous award wins, and an impressive list of international tours, including performances for U.S. troops in far-flung locations like Alaska, Japan, Australia, and Guam, Pamela Hopkins continues to solidify her position as a fierce and fearless voice in contemporary country music. “Me Being Me” is further evidence of her unwavering commitment to authenticity and her refusal to be anything other than herself. This latest single is an empowering anthem for anyone who has ever felt the pressure to conform, and in Pamela Hopkins’ capable hands, it becomes a rallying cry for embracing individuality and living life on your own terms.
