The Original 7ven To Open Soul Train Awards
With Electrifying Performance

Debuts in iTunes Top 10 Soul Albums Chart

The Original 7ven - CondensateFairfax, VA (October 25, 2011) — The Original 7ven, the band formerly known as The Time, has been selected to kick off this year’s Soul Train Awards with an outrageously funky performance simulcast on both BET and Centric on November 27 at 9ET/PT.  One of the most dynamic live bands to ever take the stage, the Original 7ven will open the show with an extended medley of hits including their latest sizzler, “#Trendin,” and will return at various times later in the show, including a hilarious skit and to introduce a very special guest. “#Trendin,” called a “…funk-fueled jam that’s right on time…” by USA Today, was the #1 most-added song in the adult urban radio format in its first week and will be performed by the Original 7ven on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno this Thursday.  It is the first single off the band’s new album, Condensate, which debuted in the iTunes Top 10 Soul Albums chart last week.

A major force in the Minneapolis sound phenomenon, each of the 7 musicians Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir and Jerome Benton – went on to successful individual careers with each scoring #1 chart toppers before coming back together for the first time in 21 years to record Condensate.  The Huffington Post gives the album five stars, noting “Condensate marks a mighty return to the fore for a beloved ensemble that has rightfully earned its own status as music royalty” and the Philadelphia Daily News awards it an “A,” adding “…the set achieves nirvana…”

The Original 7ven recently hosted a sold-out screening of their documentary at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles and followed with an uproarious album release concert the next night. They will travel to Minneapolis in early November for a highly anticipated homecoming concert as well as an appearance at the Mall of America in association with Best Buy.  While in Atlanta taping their Soul Train Awards performance, the band will stop by a local Best Buy location on November 16th for their only public appearance in the city.
