Country Star, the Jukebox Junkie, Ken Mellons to Appear at the 68 Jamboree in Lebanon KY
Nashville, TN – The “Jukebox Junkie” Ken Mellons will be bringing Honky Tonk Country music to the famed 68 Jamboree in Lebanon, KY, appearing in concert Saturday July 23rd.
A traditional troubadour and soulful country music singer, Ken Mellons may be best known for his award winning hit song “Jukebox Junkie.” Ken had a string of hits in the 90’s on Sony Records including, “I Can Bring Her Back, “Rubba Dubbin,’” “ Lookin’ In The Same Direction,” and “Workin’ For The Weekend.” Then it seems he disappeared off radio’s radar, an all too familiar story. Ken’s sexy baritone voice however did not disappear. For years Ken put aside touring and concentrated on raising his son Kade, all the while, writing hits for George Strait, Dierks Bentley, Mark Chesnutt, Hank Williams Jr. and others. Just like country music though, he waited for the tides to turn back around and for his voice to be heard once again. The wait is over; it’s time to let country listeners decide what country is.
Ken signed his first record deal in 1992 with Sony Music and sold over 500,000 copies of his debut album, which boasted the radio hits “Jukebox Junkie,” and “I Can Bring Her Back.” Mellons parted with Epic after a second album and then signed to Curb. In 2004, he offered the album “Sweet” on a small label, with guest spots from George Jones, Vince Gill, Rebecca Lynn Howard and Earl Scruggs.
In 2010 Ken paid tribute to his earliest music roots by releasing his first bluegrass album entitled “Rural Route” with help from an all-star bluegrass line-up including Rhonda Vincent, Larry Cordle, Vince Gill and many more. His writing credits include cuts by George Strait, Hank Williams Jr., Dierks Bentley and Mark Chesnutt.
Show starts at 7:00pm Eastern, Saturday July 23, 2011 at the 68 Jamboree, Highway 68 East (Danville Highway), Lebanon, KY. 40033.
