The Real Deal. That’s all.
If you ask me, if Jontavious Willis ain’t the man then who the heck is? I mean this bluesy guitar slinger rocks so hard it will make your teeth chatter. He simply has that thing. The X factor. The Juice. That certain je ne sais quoi, if you catch my drift. Call it what you will. To me it’s the Real Deal.
The first track Low Down Ways is a down-home, bluesy number that hits all the buttons. Sonically it is right on the money. Well, I mean Taj Mahal (executive producer) and Keb’ Mo (producer) bring it all together and into focus.
Then comes the roadhouse piano intro to The Blues Is Dead? and I am transported directly to Blues Heaven. Dare I say it again? The Real Deal.
The album title is Spectacular Class. I would add that this artist is in that Spectacular Class all by himself! Jontavious delivers exceptional guitar licks and vocal styling. His talented finger-picking, flat picking and slide styles are amazing and a true gift to the listener.
I love this timeless and wonderful record and I certainly hope you will, too.
