The reigning NBC “The Voice” champion Jake Hoot celebrated an impactful Grand Ole Opry debut Tuesday night. With more than 1,000 tickets sold in his hometown alone,
the “hooters” showed up in full force to cheer on Hoot. Tennessee Radio
Hall of Fame member Philip Gibbons welcomed Hoot onto the Opry stage as
the crowd erupted into applause and enthusiastic cheering while he
stepped into the Circle for the first time. Hoot performed fan favorites
from The Voice including “That Ain’t My Truck,” an acoustic version of “Cover Me Up,” and his original song “Better Off Without You,” receiving
standing ovations after every song. The emotional moment brought Hoot
to tears as he thanked his friends, family, fans and the Opry for making
his dream to play the coveted stage come true.
Following his first performance, Grand Ole Opry members Dailey & Vincent invited Hoot on stage during their set where he performed “Danny’s Song” and joined Dailey & Vincent on gospel hymn, “Just As I Am.”
“As a member of the Grand Ole Opry, I see a lot of singers perform on Country Music’s most hallowed stage,” said Dailey.
“I have never been as proud as I was last night to watch Jake Hoot step
into the Circle and deliver a stunning performance filled with heart,
passion and soul. On behalf of the Grand Ole Opry, I salute the Hoot!”
His
Opry debut is the first of many bucket list items for the emerging
talent. Hoot is currently writing for his debut release and gearing up
for a busy touring schedule in 2020.
