Interview with Abbie Lynn

Christian Lamitschka: Country Music has many new fans in Europe, who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you play to someone who’se never seen or heard you before.
Abbie Lynn: Describing my music is a bit easier, describing myself….how many pages do we have?! I love music, I love to sing, I love my family, this is why I’m so drawn to Country Music. It’s fun, it’s good natured, it’s clean but it can have a wild and playful side too!! Like me!!! My music falls somewhere in between traditional country and what your hearing widely on radio right now. It’s got a slight pop feel to some of it, but i could have fit right in during the late 80’s and 90’s too! There’s an older feel to my music while still being current. Mostly it’s fun and light hearted!
Christian Lamitschka: How was the last year for you? What were the highlights?
Abbie Lynn: This last year has been amazing! Recording, releasing an album and a single to radio has moved quicker than I imagined and in itself is farther than I thought I’d be already. A huge highlight was definitely opening for RCA Recording Artist Chuck Wicks as well as reaching #1 on National Radio Chart – RadioMaxMusic. I’m also looking forward to performing on opening day of Fan Fair in Nashville this week at BB Kings! What an opportunity!
Christian Lamitschka: How did you choose the title for the CD, is there a story behind it?
Abbie Lynn: Sweet Love is a song off the album, and it’s a great song! It really has an older country feel to it and it’s a lot of fun. We had been given a Billboard Release Date of February 14th, so it seemed a perfect title!! Plus, it’s the song on the album that really brings it together, with a slight „pop“ feel, but still hanging into country roots, it represents the feel of the album as a whole.
Christian Lamitschka: What kind of songs do you like to record the most?
Abbie Lynn: I like to record songs I can connect with. Songs that tell stories or make me think about people in my life. Being able to pull experiences or feelings out while i’m recording really bring the song to another level. I also love recording songs that are just fun to sing or about having fun! Like Loving in the Mud off my album.
Christian Lamitschka: As an artist you have to do so many different things such as recording, touring, doing interviews etc. What do you like best, what’s your favorite activity?
Abbie Lynn: Making Music of course!! Be it in the studio, on stage or singing my children to sleep at night, If i’m singing, i’m happy!
Christian Lamitschka: What drives you?
Abbie Lynn: The short answer……me. It’s not something as easy as „success“ or „money“. Of course, my love of music is what started this. But once I made the commitmment, it’s a need to carry through, to prove to myself I can do it, to show my children that following a dream is NOT a waste of time and that there is no better risk or investment than in yourself. No matter what it is, being able to support your family by doing what you love is a dream come true!
Christian Lamitschka: Who’s your biggest critic, yourself or others?
Abbie Lynn: I am most definitely my biggest critic! I can find improvement in everything I do. I will always be analyzing myself for how I can be better. I don’t ever want to get complacent or take advantage of successes and back down or get lazy!
Christian Lamitschka: When you get time off, how do you like to relax?
Abbie Lynn: Just being at home is one my favorite ways to relax and let go of what it takes to be in this business. I love to be able to read a book, hang out with my honey, play with my kids and my puppies and not think about checking my email or social networking sites or having to be anywhere. Too often we want to „get away“ when everything we need is right at home and „get away“ is what we do all the time!
Christian Lamitschka: Many European fans travel to Nashville for CMA Music Festival (Fan Fair), because of the opportunity to see so many of their favorite stars at the same time. Will you be participating and how will the fans be able to find you?
Abbie Lynn: I am SO excited that I will be part of this year’s CMA Music Festival and not just a spectator. I will be performing at BB King’s palace on opening day, June 9th. Showcases start at 11am and will contiue throughout the day!!! Fans can follow me on facebook and twitter to find out where else I’ll be through the week and stop to say Hi!
Christian Lamitschka: Many music fans today get their information about artists via the internet. Do you have your own website and what will fans find there?
Abbie Lynn: I do have a website, www.abbielynnmusic.com My site has pictures, a calendar, access to my social networking pages, a bio, sample songs and lots of other great stuff!! It’s a great starting point to find out more about Abbie Lynn and where you can find me!
Christian Lamitschka: Tell us about the fan club and how people can join it.
Abbie Lynn: I do have a fan club set up through IFCO. You can join directly off my website! Joining the fanclub gets you an autographed album and picture as well as being the first to know everything going on, concerts, meet and greets and special events!
Christian Lamitschka: What’s the best compliment a fan has ever given you?
Abbie Lynn: This is actually a funny story! After my show opening for Chuck Wicks, this woman came up to me and told me how great I was! She said she could see it in my eyes that I was the „real deal“ doing this for the right reasons. She said she had fun watching me, becuase I was having so much fun up there. That’s really why I do this, because it’s sooo much fun, I’m really just entertaining myself, so if that can come across to the audience and they are having fun too! That’s fabulous. She gave me her business card as she was leaving and said „i’m telling you, you“re gonna make it in Nashville“ After she walked away, I looked down at the card, she was a psycic!!! I still keep her card in my wallet now and carry it around with me, hey, you never know right!!?
Christian Lamitschka: What message would you like to send your European fans?
Abbie Lynn: I’d like to say „Hey!“ and thanks for listening and supporting this genre of music!! One of the greatest things about music is that it reaches across borders, religions and oceans. Country Music truly tells a story and is relatable by so many people on so many levels no matter where you are from!
