Hyram Posey – What Child Is This

Single CD Review: Hyram Posey – What Child Is This

by Ritchie Ritchison For Country Music News International

Hyram Posey is a multi-award winning composer, violinist, bandleader and 3 time Hall of Fame member. His professional musical career started at age 14 playing fiddle for Country Music Legend, Charley Pride. He did a stint with George Strait and then played his own music with a symphony orchestra in Arizona. Hyram has scored the music for a successful stage play and currently does sessions in the world renowned Charlebois studios near Nashville, Tennessee. Hyram is also a regular on Broadway playing all of the famous places in Nashville and across the country. So when his new Christmas single “What Child is This”, came across my desk I knew I was in for a treat.

Normally I would not get all that excited about someone performing a Christmas standard especially as an instrumental but a track from Hyram Posey would not be simply a cover of a standard.
With his fiddle at the ready Hyram put his own twist on this classic song and gave it brand new life. If you like Christmas music, fiddle music or instrumental music you will like this one! Do yourself a favor and get this track… or any track from Hyram Posey.
