The members of Fiery Blue – lead singer Simone Stevens (who lives in NYC), producer / musician Gabe Rhodes (who lives in Austin), and songwriter Paul Marsteller (who lives in San Diego) – have clearly defined their roles for their new recording, and they’ve put it together with remarkable cohesion despite the differences in their individual locations.
Stevens’ distinctive and emotional vocals against Rhodes’ elegantly crisp and spare production kicks off the disc with “Crystal Ball,” and continues to the final notes of “While The Music Plays.” In between is the wondrously intimate “Eventide,” the irresistibly catchy country-rocker “Slow Down,” and the blend of country and pop on “Wheels Up.” Right in the middle is the playful version (with guest vocals from Kimmie Rhodes) of The Beatles’ “I’ve Just Seen A Face.”
“Irresistibly catchy in a left field way, this is music of the highest quality. It’s probably best to just sit back, listen and let this gorgeous sound wash over you and ignore genres.”
