Diamond Rio Honored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America
Karen Mathis, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Presents Award
NASHVILLE, TN (March 14, 2011)… Big Brothers Big Sisters of America President and CEO Karen Mathis recognized members of Diamond Rio, six-time Vocal Group of the Year (ACM, CMA) and recent Grammy recipients, with an award in recognition of a lifetime of advocacy for children and families everywhere during a presentation at the Wildhorse Saloon earlier today.

For more than a decade, the individual members of Diamond Rio have promoted youth mentoring serving as National Spokespersons and Ambassadors for Big Brothers Big Sisters and have raised over $1.5 million for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.  Countless mentors have been motivated to volunteer as Big Brothers and Big Sisters because of the testimonials shared by band members during their concerts and in daily interaction with fans and others.  In addition, their fund-raising efforts have included a long-standing golf tournament, Team Rio (an annual group that runs in the Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon), and many other efforts.
