is Nominated for Award for Excellence by the ARSC
Nashville, TN — Legendary
country music artist and author David Frizzell has garnered a slew of
rave reviews and industry accolades for his book about his beloved
brother and mentor “I Love You A Thousand Ways: The Lefty Frizzell
Story,” which was released in late 2011. Arriving on the heels of a nod
from CMT as one of the Top Music Books of the Year, the biographical
story about a man who influenced generations of singers has just been
nominated for the Award for Excellence in Recorded Sound Research by the
Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC).
The
ARSC awards are presented to authors and publishers of books, articles,
liner notes, and monographs, to recognize outstanding published
research in the field of recorded sound. David Frizzell will be
acknowledged with the other nominees at an awards ceremony at the ARSC
national conference in Rochester New York in May of 2012. The
long-awaited book features a forward by Merle Haggard and chronicles the
turbulent life and career of Lefty Frizzell; one of America’s most
influential voices. It is a must read for any proficient country music
fan. The book is now available in audio version wherever books are
sold.
Frizzell is currently touring and making
appearances in support of his latest single, “Say Hello To Heaven.”
Written by Buddy Hyatt, the poignant ballad shares the heart wrenching
story of a husband and father widowed at the hands of a drunk driver.
The Frizzell family itself was touched by tragedy when David’s niece was
killed by a drunk driver in 1998. The song is part of a year-long
awareness campaign in support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (madd),
and organization that was on the scene and of tremendous support to the
Frizzell family in the days and weeks after their loss. “Say Hello To
Heaven” is David’s opportunity to give back in support of madd.
