SINGER/SONGWRITER CHRIS STAPLETON TO OPEN FOR THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND AND LYNYRD SKYNYRD THIS WEEK

Nashville,
TN – July 30, 2012 – GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton
will open two shows for southern rock legends The Allman Brothers Band
and Lynyrd Skynyrd this weekend, first at Charlotte, NC’s Verizon
Wireless Amphitheatre (8/3), then at Raleigh, NC’s Time Warner Cable
Music Pavilion (8/4).  Stapleton will be on the bill with Lynyrd Skynyrd
once more when he opens for them at Milwaukee, WI’s Riverside Theatre
on Aug. 30.  Stapleton will play solo acoustic sets, relying solely on
his signature vocal style and commanding stage presence to carry the
crowds of the nearly 20,000 capacity venues this weekend.

“I’m
thrilled to share the stage with two of rock’s greatest bands,” said
Stapleton.  “I’ve looked up to these guys for a long time…it’s a huge
honor.  I’ve got a pretty tall task ahead of me in warming up crowds
this big with just my acoustic guitar, but I’m looking forward to the
challenge.”

One
of Universal Music Group Nashville’s most recent signings, Stapleton is
an established songwriter with four No. one hits already under his belt
including “Never Wanted Nothing More” recorded by Kenny Chesney and
“Love’s Gonna Make it Alright” recorded by George Strait.  Stapleton has
penned over 150 album cuts, including songs recorded by Adele, Tim
McGraw, Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley, and has such notable co-writers
as Vince Gill, Peter Frampton and Sheryl Crow among others.
