CD Review: Tanya Tucker – Wheels of
Laredo – by Preshias Harris for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Fans of traditional Country music, take
heart: Tanya Tucker is back with her first new studio album in 17
years. The album is While I’m Livin’ (Fantasy
Records/Concord) and it debuted at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Country
Albums chart. It also debuted at No. 2 on the UK Country Album chart,
proving that Tanya Tucker – and traditional Country music – still
have worldwide appeal. “Wheels of Laredo” is one of three tracks
released in advance of the album. When you first hear it, the song
is so rooted deep in traditional Country that you might think that it
dates back to the 1970s. But no, “Wheels” is new music, written
by singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile along with twins Phil and Tim
Hanseroth. It’s a wistful ballad that makes the most of Tanya’s
distinctive voice and the Western inspiration is most noticeable in
the beautiful music video of the song, posted here at YouTube
