COSETTE ‘COZY’ HEMEN
Knuckles Duff And His Pick-Up Truck
Knuckles Duff and his Pick-Up Truck
This CD is a single song DJ copy of a song
written by South Dakotan writer Cosette Hemen. It was a kind of
challenge, she attends the annual Old Time Music Festival in LeMars,
Iowa, and being the good songwriter she is, decided to enter the
songwriting contest. The ‘topic’ she drew to write about is the name of
the song, “Knuckles Duff And His Pick-Up Truck.” It’s all a very
interesting story, Mr. Duff is a very successful man who makes his home
in Newport Beach, California. He was born and raised in Iowa, however,
and likes to come back to help-out at the LeMars Festival, doing very
important Emcee chores. He does them well, and when his nick-name came
together with a down-home pick-up truck, it was a natural for Cosette to
write the song about him. As it turned out, it’s a very complete story
about Knuckles Duff and his experiences with his pick-up truck, and how
he heroically saved the day in an interesting festival situation.
Cosette played guitar and sang the lead, and Rick Anderson added some
fine harmonica licks to the project, and recorded it at his R & H
Studio. Hopefully this ‘single’ recording will lead to others, perhaps
even a full CD of songs chock full of upper Midwest experiences like Bob
Duff’s pick-up truck.
