STANDOFF

Label: Almost Country Records
First Single: “Whiskey Baby”
Producer: Casey J. Donahew

The Casey Donahew Band’s latest CD release, STANDOFF
is another collection of pure Texas country from one of the Lone Star
state’s hardest-working artists. For over a decade Casey and the band
have crossed the country and back, burning up every stage in their path
with their unique brand of country, and with the release of their sixth
CD, STANDOFF, they’re ready to put the hammer down and barrel full-speed ahead.

Just like their
predecessors/fellow Texas acts the Eli Young Band and the Randy Rogers
Band, who broke out and garnered mainstream attention and acclaim, the
Casey Donahew Band is a band on the verge…they’ve captured the hearts of
Texans and beyond for years, and soon the rest of the world will know
what legions of loyal fans have known for years – Casey and his band are
bonified stars.

STANDOFF, comes to fans as the follow-up to CDB’s wildly successful CD DOUBLE WIDE DREAM,
which reached the Number Two spot on the iTunes Country chart and
Number 10 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart. That collection yielded
three chart-topping smashes on the Texas regional music charts,
including the scorching love letter to his home state, “One Star Flag,”
and irreverent title track, a love song to the redneck way of life. He
follows down that small-town rabbithole full of colorful characters once
again on “Standoff” with songs like “Homecoming Queen,” a tune that
visits the high school’s most popular girl 10 years later in her hot
mess state as she copes with life on the other side of the tiara and
gown, and “Put The Bottle Down,” a song that tackles the sheer
devastation and despair of alcoholism head-on, with utmost honesty and
the dangerous edginess of a sharp knife. And of course there are plenty
of declarations of love peppered in there as well, in songs like the
sweetly sentimental “Small Town Love,” and the debut single, “Whiskey
Baby,” a tune comparing a man’s love for his woman to his favorite
libation that he can’t seem to put down, alternately burning yet
soothing and hard to swear off.
As a cowboy who
still loves to rope on occasion, Casey’s love for all things Western
comes out on the new CD as well, permeating the packaging with its
creative, spaghetti-Western movie theme. The simulated bullet holes on
the CD inside and the second amendment printed on the inside cover are a
testament to who he is as well, and his stance on the issue currently
being hotly debated is what spurred him in part to name the new CD,
which hits stores April 16th. For Casey and his wife Melinda,
who have singlehandedly created his impressive decade-long career, the
renegade sentiment seemed to fit as well.

“We went through
several ideas for a title and came up with ‘Standoff’ – it doesn’t
relate to a specific song, but it relates to our ideas on the second
amendment for sure,” said Casey.

We’re big supporters of the 2nd
amendment and the right to bear arms, and culturally we thought that
was a great concept idea, and it sums up a lot of how we’ve spent our
career in the music business too. We’ve kind of done it on our own as
outlaws outside the system in a way, since we didn’t follow the norm of
‘you’re supposed to do this, and you’re supposed to do that,’ and we
didn’t do any of that we did it on totally our own, so we thought that
was a great idea for a title. I’m very excited to take this new
collection of songs out to the fans. It’s always fun to make new music,
and I hope they enjoy it as much as I did writing and making it.”
