NASHVILLE, TN – (July 29, 2016) – Attention-grabbing label Big Loud Records is proud to announce today (7/29) the signing of its second artist, Morgan Wallen,
an exciting 23-year-old singer-songwriter with a dynamic vocal
presence, a down-home personality and a sound straight out of the modern
South.
“We’re
so excited to have Morgan and his entire family be a part of the Big
Loud family,” says label President Clay Hunnicutt. “His distinctive
voice, undeniable talent and great character caught us all from the very
first meeting. He can capture and deliver a song as only few can. We
can’t wait to deliver it to the world.”
Wallen’s five-song EP debut hits
iTunes and
Spotify
today (7/29) featuring the young artist’s first single, “The Way I
Talk.” Already set for inclusion on Spotify’s popular Hot Country, Wild
Country, New Boots and New Music Friday playlists, the track is a
grooving country tribute to Wallen’s Appalachian roots and Southern
pride — with just a hint of tongue-twisting flair thrown in.
Born
about three hours from Nashville in Sneedville, Tenn. (also home to
bluegrass legend Jimmy Martin), Wallen was a star on the baseball
diamond, attended the same high school as country superstar Kenny
Chesney, and has deep roots in the church. With a hard-rock loving
preacher for a father and a mother who couldn’t get enough country and
contemporary Christian music, Wallen began performing for his local
congregation at the tender age of 3 and went on to develop a strong love
of country, rock and hip-hop.
After
moving to Music City in 2015, he’s spent the last year developing his
writing skills with hitmakers like Craig Wiseman (“Live Like You Were
Dying”), Rodney Clawson (“Dirt”), Chris Tompkins (“Drunk on a Plane”),
the Warren Brothers (“Highway Don’t Care”), Tommy Cecil (“Home Alone
Tonight”) and Matt Dragstrem (“Sippin’ on Fire”), and has been honing
his studio poise with award-winning producer Joey Moi.
Wallen
joins breakthrough star Chris Lane on Big Loud Records’ promising
roster, the high-flying voice who took the label’s first-ever single
“Fix” into country radio’s Top 5, where it continues to climb. With the
addition of Wallen, that unprecedented success is sure to continue.
The Big Loud Records label launched in 2015 and was founded by manager Seth England, acclaimed producer Joey Moi, award-winning songwriter Craig Wiseman, manager Kevin “Chief” Zaruk and radio veteran Clay Hunnicutt.
