It
was another successful year at Jam In The Valley This was the 20th
anniversary of Western New York’s only 3-day country concert event
in Varysburg New York, and even though things were a bit muddy to
start out, I’d have to say it’s one of the best festivals I’ve
been to in North America.

Highlights
were many and the energy was high. Chris Janson. This guy is good. I
would say the highest energy show I have seen in a long time. His 70
minute set to start of the festival made you want to scream “Truck
Yeah.”
Day
2 offered up the likes of Scotty McCreery, an artist on the comeback
trail, Chris Cagle and the man running from the ‘p o – p o’
Dierks Bentley had the feel of a honkytonk for 12,000 of your closest
friends.
The
final day was packed with the tight sounds of Parmalee, a great set
from Randy Houser, but the highlight was an amazing 2 hour set from
Montgomery Gentry. I could go on and on about Montgomery Gentry. They
are true monarchs in this business that have only gotten better even
amidst recent rumors of their “split.” The exploded onto the
stage with “My Town” and commenced to play just about every song
in their cannon, if there is an underappreciated duo in the business
today it is Montgomery Gentry.
From
music to the incredible fireworks, the 20th anniversary of Jam In The
Valley was simply awesome! Yes, the weather was hot and sticky on the
good days and wet and muddy and frustrating on the bad days, but it
never seems to bother any of the fans, and the workers, volunteers
and musicians always stay professional and dedicated. Here is to an
amazing 21st Anniversary show in 2014!
