Amy Jo Interview
By Big Al Weekley for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show
Amy Jo continues to grow and change musically, but never forgets her roots! This spitfire artist from the Hoosier state has picked up all of her favorite musical styles over the years and grown comfortable jumping genres and mashing up influences. From country to country rock, southern rock, and blues influences ~ the passion for music and performing pours from her.
This spitfire music artist and singer/songwriter knows how to put on a show! Amy Jo wrote her first song at about age 10 and began performing on her own at age 15 for festivals and events around her hometown. Deep love of music began in childhood as her mother is also a Songwriter/Performer. One of AJ’s fondest memories is watching her perform at the Midwest Country Music Hall and riding her tricycle around at about age 3. The spicy, fun girl from the Hoosier state has penned many songs and has loved the journey of setting them all to music for herself and other artists and even sync. While she is smooth and easy to listen to, she also entangles an edgier style with a mix of Southern Rock, Red Dirt, Outlaw, Blues and Folk Country all combined within her writing. She has a mixed country style all her own. Her singles Stupid Girl, Mississippi Flood, Throwback, Swamp Water, and She’ll Send You Back are available on Itunes and all platforms, along with latest song release “Five Minute Smoke Break” – the smooth Country Blues/ RnB styles combine. Lyric and and Music video productions are upcoming for the new release as well as for the other singles. Many collaborative songs are also coming down the pike! AJ has been accepted and added to the Marquis Who’s Who list of globally revered musicians, and she is now a CMA and ACM voting member. Amy is honored to be a judge again in 2024 for the International Singer Songwriters Association, and was thankful to attend the ceremony 2023 in Atlanta to present an award to several of last years’ winning artists, and conducted the red carpet interviews for MV2. She is an official ISSA Representative. Many unreleased songs are within her multi-genre catalogue. Co-writing with other artists has helped bring even more new and fresh ideas. In “spare time” AJ helps to coach other artists and teaches how to write and format their own songs. Amy has a southern rock/ Christian project with no set release date. “This one has to be done just right. It will be a full album, and it’s going to be a crown jewel to me- so I want to be 1,000 percent happy with it.” Amy Jo has a rare kind of drive and devotion in all that she does. She loves people and finds joy in connecting with others through her performances and music. She says ” To God be the glory in every step of everything that I have, and will ever do.” ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌
Amy Jo has won Gold For Song of the Year twice for her song Swamp Water – One at the International Singer Songwriter Association, and the other at The Who’s Who Awards. Title for best Outlaw Song of the Year from World Songwriter Awards, Best Southern Rock artist, and Best Female Country Music artist of the Year for Mississippi Music Foundation Awards, Original Country Pop Music Artist in the Netherlands, and Songwriter of the Year at the Who’s Who Country Music awards
Nominated for 11 Awards at the Red Carpet awards in Europe for 2024.
