Willie Watson: A Modern Folk Singer
Willie Watson is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, banjo player, and actor, best known as a founding member of the acclaimed folk band Old Crow Medicine Show.
From Old Crow to Solo Career
Born in Watkins Glen, New York, Watson’s musical journey began early, influenced by his father’s record collection featuring artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lead Belly, and the iconic Harry Smith’s folk anthology.
His time with Old Crow Medicine Show was pivotal, where he honed his skills and developed a deep appreciation for traditional American music.
After nearly two decades with the band, Watson embarked on a successful solo career in 2011.
