Australian country artist Victoria Crosby releases her new single You Need a Cowboy on March 6, marking the first release from her forthcoming sophomore album, If The Boots Fit. With a modern country attitude, Crosby’s track displays a confidence while remaining grounded in her Australian roots as she sings about needing a cowboy to replace those who didn’t quite make the dating grade. The opening diamonds played by the rhythm section give space for a lone banjo to introduce the mid-tempo country rocker. Victoria uses a dusk low key vocal before elevating into a raspy throaty delivery as she sings,
He’s got a latte and a three-piece suit
Wouldn’t know a fence post from a gumboot
Takes you to places with a wine list long
But he don’t back you up when things go wrong
He’s got soft hands and a showroom tan
But girl, you need a different kind of man
You don’t need no bloke with a follow plan
You need one with dirt under both his hands
