U.S Songwriter Matt Simons Shares Powerful, Alt-Pop Cut ‘Cold’ (Billboard/ Clash/ Radio 1 A-List)

L.A
Songwriter Matt Simons has a unique ability with his music to reach a
global audience, with an accessible sound that still feels personal to
each of his fans worldwide. Following the  release of his third album
‘After The Landslide’, Matt returns in 2020 with his melancholy pop
anthem, ‘Cold’

A
story of humble beginnings, Simons grew up in Palo Alto, California as
the grandson of two opera singers. He spent much of his early life
studying jazz and classical music, playing the piano before switching to
clarinet & guitar before crafting his own, melodic pop identity. It
wasn’t long before he took steps to self-promote his releases online.
To his surprise, his appealing pop sensibilities picked up an audience
in The Netherlands, where his career started to really take off. A sync
on a Dutch TV show and a string of tour dates, meant he had the perfect
foundation to build a career overseas.  Deepend’s remix of “Catch &
Release” bubbled up organically and ended up to as one off 2016’s
biggest hits, reaching Gold and Platinum status in a dozen territories
and the top of the European Airplay chart. 2018’s ‘We Can Do Better’ and
Open Up (2019) following close behind, with success spreading even
further.

With
three albums now under his belt,  his unique ability to blend elements
of contemporary pop and singer-songwriter styles together with relatable
and universal  lyrics has garnered him a broad and dedicated fanbase in
Europe and beyond. His music has also seen success on UK shores with
his single ‘We Can Do Better’, which received a BBC Radio 1 B-List,
before the next single ‘Open Up’, landed a spot on the A-List. Tracks
from the album including the affecting and relevant ‘Amy’s Song’ were
also featured by the likes of Billboard and Clash.

Returning
in 2020 with a string of incredible pop anthems, February 13th sees the
release of ‘Cold’. An anthem for the Valentines Day pessimist, it’s a
powerful piece of electronic pop that’s full of sentiment.

“People
change, and change in any relationship is inevitable. The only question
is, can the two people change together and adapt? Cold is about a
relationship where they did not. When making this song with Producer
Sean Myer and songwriter Ferras, we wanted to blend nostalgia,
melancholy and sadness with a mellow, hip-hop inspired track behind it.”
says Simons of the song.
