Turnpike Troubadours Are Reuniting

By Tom Bomb for Country Music News International

After going on an “indefinite hiatus” since May 2019, Turnpike Troubadours are back! The band will headline the Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver on May 14. More shows and news of a new album will be released soon. During an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, the members articulated that they have missed being the Turnpike Troubadours.

The Turnpike Troubadours are Evan Felker, Kyle Nix, Ryan Engleman, R.C. Edwards on bass, Gabe Pearson on drums, and Hank Early on steel guitar and accordion. The band was founded in 2005 and they have recorded four official albums all while remaining independent.

Their sound can be described as country-leaning roots rock mixed with the folk stylings of Woody Guthrie and the honky-tonk of Waylon Jennings seasoned with some bluegrass, Cajun, and rock n’ roll. From their debut album in 2007 titled Bossier City, to their 2010 follow-up Diamonds & Gasoline (produced by Mike McClure), their 2012 release Goodbye Normal Street, the highly acclaimed The Turnpike Troubadours released in 2015 which charted at number 3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, to their most recent A Long Way from Your Heart, which also charted at number 3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, this band keeps innovating more and more in the fastest-growing segment of the global record business known as “Texas Country”. I think that it’s safe to say that many of us are looking forward to the next chapter in the story that is…Turnpike Troubadours.
