Country Artist Shares “Lazy American Dream” at Conservative Event
Nashville, TN — It
was billed as the Conservative alternative to the DNC convention in
Charlotte. Rock the Red brought out like-minded speakers, politicians
and artists to The Hunter Farm just outside of Charlotte, NC for and
afternoon of Conservative presentations and entertainment.
Nashville singer/songwriter, Troy Cook Jr. was invited to share his viral hit, “Lazy American Dream,” cleverly written by  Don Bradley. The satirical tune is illustrated with a lighthearted music video available on You Tube, (, and pokes fun at the “what about me” mentality that arguably permeates the US culture.
as former President Clinton took the state at the DNC convention, Troy
Cook Jr. performed as the opener for controversial and outspoken
Maricopa County Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, of Arizona. Known as “America’s
Toughest Sheriff,” Arpaio has continuously made headlines for his tough
stances on immigration policy. The sheriff brought the crowd to its feet
with a mix of humor, conviction, and political savvy as he shared his
views on crime, immigration and the law.
presenters included Genevieve Wood, Vice President of the Heritage
Foundation; Thom Tillis, North Carolina Speaker of the House, renown
teen blogger Madeleine MacAulay; comedian Jim Labriola; South Carolina
Attorney General Alan Wilson, and others.
A familiar face on the Music Row scene, Cook Jr. has been touring as lead guitarist and singer with Grammy award winner David Ball (“Riding With Private Malone,” “Thinkin’ Problem”) since 2009 as one of the Pioneer Playboys.

“I confess,” Cook says, “I was raised with traditional values and I
believe in taking responsibility for myself. This song made me laugh but
also touched something in me about my concern for our country.”
American Dream” is resonating with conservatives and raising the
eyebrows of progressive thinkers, but it’s all in good fun. “Lazy
American Dream” is now available.
