Towne Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Lamitschka:
Music has many new fans throughout Europe who may be hearing about you
for the first time. How would you describe yourself and the music you
play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

Answer:  First
of all, thank you for taking the time to chat with us. The answer to
your question is in our name, “Towne”. We like to walk the line between
pop and country music- so, we’re not too far off in either direction,
but somewhere right in the middle.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your highlights?

Answer:  Last
year was a good one for us. We wrote and recorded a lot of songs and
started playing more shows on the road which culminated in us playing
the Pilgrimage Festival in Tennessee. The headliners were Eddie Vedder
and Justin Timberlake, so it was cool to be on the same bill as them,
for sure.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Answer:  Yes,
we’ve co-written every song we’ve recorded so far with either each
other or with other songwriters. We feel like it’s important to be as
connected to what we’re singing about as possible.

Lamitschka:  As an artist, you so many tasks such as recording, touring, interviews. What do you like best, what’s your favorite activity?

Answer:  Our
favorite of all of those is touring and performing, hands down.
Connecting with people is the whole reason we do what we do and it’s the
best method we’ve found so far.

Lamitschka:  What’s unique about you that will differentiate you from other artists?

Answer:  that’s
a great question and a tricky one too…we like to think our;
backstory, our songs, and the way our voices blend are what makes us
unique and unlike anyone else out there.

Lamitschka:  What has been your greatest challenge in music business?

Answer:
the greatest challenge we see in this business is finding a way to
stand out and get noticed while so many others are trying to do the
exact same thing. Technology has changed the game so much in the last
few years to where now, all of a sudden, everyone with a computer or a
phone has a voice or a song that you’ve just GOTTA HEAR. So learning out
to rise above the noise has definitely felt the most challenging.

Lamitschka:  Who is your biggest critic, yourself or others?

Answer:  We’re
definitely our biggest critics and we’re both always striving to get
everything “just right”. We fall short a lot but “if you ain’t trying,
you’re dying”.

Lamitschka:  When you get time off, how do you like to relax?

Answer:  Steevie’s favorite downtime is spent having home cooked meal with a glass of wine and cuddling with her puppy.

Jon likes reading, mostly Hemingway, and mowing grass.

Lamitschka:  What’s the best compliment a fan has ever given you?

Answer:  “Thanks
for making me feel again”, was written on a napkin and placed in our
tip jar at a show last year. That was about the highest and most
touching compliment either of us have ever received in music or
otherwise.

Lamitschka:  What message would you like to send your European fans?

Answer:  Tell all of your friends about us! We want to get over and play for you all ASAP!
