Tim Atwood has been somewhat of an enigma in that he has played with nearly everyone who is anyone in country music over his several decades of playing on the Opry, but his solo albums have been a mix of styles and genres and guest performers and while all of the songs stood well on their own the albums as a whole fell flat and far short of a true representation of Tim’s talent and abilities.
On Who I Am, Tim has finally found the right mix of songs, styles, themes and grooves and has come out with an album that truly reflects who Tim Atwood is as an artist from beginning to end.
If you have ever seen Tim live you know he puts on an energetic show and here he captures all of that energy and gets it in each and every track. Even when he slows it down on Blue Umbrella or Just Because She Always Has the energy is still there. His voice has never been stronger or clearer than on these 15 wonderful tracks.
I’d be hard pressed to find a favorite but several deserve mention. Sending Me Angels, Monkey Around, and Throwback Man made me turn up the volume and and hit the
preset button. Kudos to Tim for finding his way to who he is on Who I Am.
