Tickets for Michael Martin Murphey’s Appearance
At Symphony In The Flint Hills Are Going Fast
COTTONWOOD
FALLS, KANSAS — Ticket sales for Michael Martin Murphey’s June 10
appearance for the 2017 Symphony In The Flint Hills iconic event are far
outpacing last year and there are only a handful remaining, according
to Gwen Shirkey, Director of Engagement for the organization.
“During
the walk-up ticket sales box office day on March 4th, we experienced
more foot traffic in Wichita than last year, and doubled ticket sales
there,” Shirkey said. “In Kansas City, the phone lines were booked until
3pm and then ticket sales continued online, outpacing sales from last
year at this time. We continue to sell tickets at a rapid daily pace,
and the event is expected to sell out completely.”
More
than 5,000 are expected at the event scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at
the beautiful Deer Horn Ranch (331 Broadway St., Cottonwood Falls, KS)
at sunset.

In
addition to the concert, a day of activities are planned related to the
theme, including a variety of educational presentations by experts,
leaders and innovators.  Cox Brothers BBQ will be on site for lunch and
VIP ticketholders can enjoy a chuckwagon-style dining experience by Coco
Bolo. Vegetarian options are available.
For
Murphey, participating in this year’s event is exciting for several
reasons. “Of course I love the chance to play with the Kansas City
Symphony,”  said Murphey, who is a self-professed Western History
junkie. “It’s also a chance for me to join in the celebration of the
150th Anniversary of the Chisholm Trail that brought cattle from Texas
to Kansas in the years following the Civil War. This is a very important
part of our country’s history.”
Murphey
is perhaps best known for a string of hits that span several musical
genres, from Pop Music to Country, Western Music to Bluegrass.  Among
those hits are “Wildfire,” “Carolina In The Pines,” “Geronimo’s
Cadillac,” “What’s Forever For,” “Cowboy Logic,” “Long Line of Love” and
many more.
“We
recently had a glimpse into the musical selection that will be
performed by the Kansas City Symphony and by Michael Martin Murphey,”
Shirkey added.  “We are thrilled with the selection and the personal
touch Michael is giving to this year’s event, a celebration of 150 years
of the Chisholm Trail and his authentic, inspirational tribute to the
grasslands and culture of the Flint Hills.”
