Thomas Rhett, a mainstay in the country music scene, has unveiled a fresh iteration of his heartfelt track “What Could Go Right,” featuring the captivating vocals of rising star Lanie Gardner. Originally a standout track on his critically acclaimed album “ABOUT A WOMAN,” the song now takes on a new emotional depth, showcasing the harmonious blend of Rhett’s seasoned artistry and Gardner’s burgeoning talent.

“What Could Go Right,” co-written by Rhett alongside Rocky Block, John Byron, and Josh Kerr, is a poignant reflection on the early stages of a relationship, capturing the delicate balance between excitement and uncertainty. The song, initially praised for its “ethereal dream-pop textures” and “intricate composition” by Holler, retains its core essence while Gardner’s powerful vocal adds a new layer of vulnerability and hope.

Thomas Rhett explains the genesis of the collaboration, stating, “In the back of my mind, I always envisioned ‘What Could Go Right’ being a feature on the album. When I first heard Lanie’s cover of ‘Dreams,’ I started listening to her original music and became an instant fan. Her voice is incredible. I immediately wondered ‘what could that sound like on “What Could Go Right?”‘ So, we reached out to her, and she came over to my producer’s house the very same day and absolutely nailed it.”

Gardner’s response reflects her own awe and gratitude. “It’s honestly unreal. I used to blast Thomas Rhett’s songs in my car, singing at the top of my lungs, and now I’m sitting here hearing my voice alongside his on a track. That’s just wild to me,” she shares. “TR has been one of those artists I’ve looked up to for so long—his songwriting, the way he brings so much heart into his music, and how he’s shaped country music over the years. He’s just one of the best to do it. Getting to be a part of this song with him has been such a full-circle moment, and I’m beyond grateful he thought of me for it. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

The collaborative version of “What Could Go Right (ft. Lanie Gardner)” is released alongside a previously unreleased acoustic version, offering listeners a deeper dive into the song’s emotional core.

Thomas Rhett’s seventh studio album, “ABOUT A WOMAN,” released last August, has garnered widespread acclaim, hailed as “genre-expanding” by Billboard and “his best work yet” by Country Living. The album, available via The Valory Music Co., features his chart-climbing single “After All The Bars Are Closed,” praised for its compelling melody and insightful lyrics.

Beyond his recorded music, Thomas Rhett is known for his electrifying live performances. He is set to embark on the “BETTER IN BOOTS TOUR” this summer, bringing his high-energy show to venues across North America, including the iconic Fenway Park on July 19. The tour, kicking off in June, will feature direct support from Tucker Wetmore and special guests The Castellows or Dasha. Fans can purchase tickets at ThomasRhett.com.
