THE TIME JUMPERS GARNER 2 GRAMMY

THE TIME JUMPERS GARNER 2 GRAMMY NOMS FOR “KID SISTER”
NASHVILLE – December 6, 2016 — Rounder Records’ The Time Jumpers
has been nominated for two Grammy awards this morning.  These
nominations are the fifth and sixth for this 10-piece group of stellar
musicians.
Best Americana Album:   Kid Sister — The Time Jumpers
Best American Roots Song:  “Kid Sister” — Vince Gill, songwriter (The Time Jumpers)
“Because
the Grammy Awards are based on the nominations of our peers, they are
really the pinnacle of recognition for recording artists,” band member “Ranger Doug” Green acknowledged.  “We are of course thrilled to be nominated again, so very proud that Kid Sister,
our labor of love and tribute to Dawn, is so admired by our talented
peers.”  The album’s title is a tribute to the amazing vocalist and band
member Dawn Sears who passed away before the album was completed.  The entire project is dedicated to her.
The title track, which is also nominated, was written by Time Jumper band member and 20-time Grammy winner Vince Gill
Dawn also toured with Gill for over 20 years as his harmony singer.  “I
have a long history of finding pen and paper and writing songs about
struggles that I go through, and losing Dawn is a struggle that we all
still go through and always will,” comments Gill.  “To me, remembering
someone with a song, whether it be my brother with “Go Rest High On That
Mountain” or my dad with “The Key To Life,” Dawn was someone who had a
massive impact on my life, my career, everything.  She gave me a lot of
her life.   That is powerful.  It was only natural that a song should
come from that long of a friendship.”
World-renowned, award-winning steel guitar player and long-time member of The Time Jumpers Paul Franklin adds
his reaction to the nomination announcement.  “If she is watching, Dawn
would say ‘OMG!!!’ After Dawn’s passing, completing Kid Sister became an emotional roller coaster full of laughter and tears.  This album exposes our hearts and souls.”
The
Time Jumpers was established in Nashville in 1998 by an assemblage of
high-dollar studio musicians who wanted to spend some spare time jamming
with their sonically gifted buddies.    Their regular Monday night
show, which currently resides at Nashville venue 3rd & Lindsley,
sells out every week and boasts a regular stream of special guests who
jump on stage, including such performers as Bonnie Raitt, John
Oates, Reba McEntire, Sheryl Crow, Joe Walsh, Norah Jones, Robert Plant,
The White Stripes, Kings Of Leon, Jimmy Buffet, Elvis Costello, Kelly
Clarkson
and many, many others.
The current edition of The Time Jumpers includes 10 members, each a master of his instrument.  They are Vince Gill (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars),  “Ranger Doug” Green (vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar), Paul Franklin (steel guitar), Brad Albin (upright bass), Larry Franklin (vocals, fiddle), Andy Reiss (electric guitar), Kenny Sears (vocals, fiddle), Joe Spivey (vocals, fiddle), Jeff Taylor (accordion, piano), and Billy Thomas (vocals, drum).
