The Furious Seasons Interview

The Furious Seasons Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

Lamitschka:  Music has many new fans throughout
Europe who may be hearing about you for the first time. How would you describe
yourself and the music you play to someone who has never seen or heard you?

1.
We’re an acoustic
trio.  The music is a bit of a hybrid. We
mix elements of folk, Americana, pop and some jazz influences in the
songs.

Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were
your highlights?

2.
It was a great
year.  We recorded two albums, we got to
play some really fun shows, travel a bit and work with a great producer
(Alfonso Rodenas) who really helped capture our sound.

Lamitschka:  What is your latest CD and how’s it
doing?

3.
It’s called La
Fonda.  It’s just coming out and we’re hoping
that it will an audience during this time that we’re all relagated to online
only performances.

Lamitschka:  How did you choose the title for the
CD?  Is there a story behind the name?

4.
La Fonda is the name
of a funky little hotel in in Baja Mexico, where a group of friends traveled to
every year for over 10 years.  The album
is about the passing of one of our friends who was always a part oft hat trip.

Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not,
how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

5.
We write the songs.
It’s defintely one of the most rewarding parts oft he process.

Lamitschka:  Please tell us about the songs on your
album (influences, etc).

6.
The album is about
the life and death (from alcohol abuse) of my best friend.  The songs span a twenty plus year time
period. We tried to deal with the subject matter with the seriousness that it demands
but also add some songs and stories with levity, hope and the joy of having a great
friend.

Lamitschka:  What kind of songs do you like to record
the most?

7.
My Favorites are; As
a Matter of Fact, Figure it Out, Burn Clean and I Want to be Sure.

Lamitschka:  How much creative control do
you have over your music?

8.
We are and, for the most
part have always been, so we have complete control of what we do and how we do
it.  I cna’t imagine doing it any other
way.

Lamitschka:  Who inspires you musically and how deep
do your musical roots run?

9.
As I get older I
revert back to listening to a ton of  the
music that I loved growing up.  Paul
Simon, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, James Taylor, Cat Stevens. Our father is an
avid music lover, a piano, guitar and ukelele player.  We got our love of music from him.

Lamitschka:  Many music fans today get their
information about artists online. Do you have your own website and what will
fans find there?

10.
Yes, www.thefuriousseasons.com.  You can listen to music, see videos and
photos and read reviews.

Lamitschka:  What’s the best compliment a fan has ever
given you?

11. Everytime
a fan tells me that a particular song helped them get through something or
meant a lot to them for some reason, I’m thrilled.  It’s also very cool when my wife starts
humming a song from 10 albums ago in the kitchen!
