The Band Perry also performed at the 2nd Annual “Beyond Hunger: A
Place At the Table” – a fundraiser to help end world hunger and poverty
–honoring Academy Award winning actress Susan Sarandon and hosted by
Heifer International. The band had people on their feet for their
entire set and were thrilled to meet Diane Lane, the inspiration behind
their song “I’m A Keeper.” The lyric “I’ll join a band and sing like a
canary, Get out of here and change my name to Cherry” is a nod to Lane’s
character Cherry Valence in the Francis Ford Coppola film adaption of
S.E. Hinton’s classic novel, The Outsiders.
