NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 24, 2015) – Tanya Tucker’s 1972 smash “Delta Dawn” captivated millions during “The Voice” Monday night when Team Blake’s Top 11 contestant Barrett Baber sang for America’s vote and a place in the Top 10.
Baber’s song choice for the singing competition’s third week of live
performances was his rendition of the country music icon’s first hit
when she was 13 years old.
“Barrett sure put a modern twist on that ole song and sang the fire
out those lyrics! Very impressive. “Delta Dawn” will always hold a
special place in my heart and I am grateful that he chose to perform it
in front of a whole new audience,” Tucker said.
This week Tucker will kick off Deck the Hall at the Country Music Hall of Fame®
and Museum on Friday, Nov. 27. Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. with a
brief performance from Tucker that will include her hits as well as some
holiday classics. She will then light a thirty-foot-tall Christmas tree
in the museum’s Mike Curb Conservatory. Following the performance and
tree lighting, Tucker will also sign copies of her CDs available for
purchase in the Museum Store. The event is FREE and open to the public.
Currently, Tucker is preparing for the launch of a new album while
crisscrossing the country with her instantly recognizable vocal flare
and legendary repertoire that includes “Texas, When I Die,” “Some Kind
of Trouble,” “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane,” “Love Me Like You Used To”
and many more.
