In a vibrant celebration of Women’s History Month, Sony Music Publishing Nashville has orchestrated a remarkable tribute to the iconic Jeannie Seely, a true luminary of country music. By breathing new life into her timeless songs through collaborations with a trio of rising female country artists, SMP Nashville has not only honored Seely’s enduring legacy but also created a bridge between generations, showcasing the power of mentorship and the enduring relevance of her music.

The project, spearheaded by Chelsea Kent, launched on March 14th, 2025, with the release of “Let’s Get Together,” a previously unreleased gem penned by Seely and Glen Campbell, featuring the captivating vocals of Mae Estes. This initial offering set the stage for a month-long celebration, culminating in two additional releases that further illuminate Seely’s influence on the contemporary country landscape.

Jeannie Seely, affectionately known as “Miss Country Soul,” is a legend whose career spans nearly six decades. Her unparalleled dedication to the Grand Ole Opry, where she has performed over 5,400 times, more than any other artist in the show’s 100-year history, speaks volumes about her enduring connection to the heart of country music. From her groundbreaking 1966 hit “Don’t Touch Me” to her continued presence on the Opry stage, Seely has consistently defied expectations and paved the way for countless female artists.

Seely’s own words encapsulate the significance of this project: “What an honor to be a part of this exciting new Sony Music Publishing Production with Chelsea Kent. It is one thing to have your old copyrights reinvented in a fresh light, but yet another to be included on the recordings as well! It has been a joy to work with some of the brightest and most talented young artists and musicians who are leading our industry into the future.”

Rusty Gaston, CEO of Sony Music Publishing Nashville, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Seely’s role as a “genre-defining artist and songwriter” and a “mentor across multiple generations of country music.” He highlighted the project as a testament to SMP Nashville’s commitment to “bringing value to our songwriters in innovative ways.”

The discovery of “Let’s Get Together” in SMP Nashville’s tape room, unearthed by catalog expert Dale Bobo, exemplifies the dedication to preserving and revitalizing musical treasures. Engineer Jason Hall’s work in modernizing the recording allowed Mae Estes to seamlessly integrate her vocals, creating a harmonious blend of past and present.

The second release, “Who Needs You,” dropped on March 21st, 2025, bringing a vibrant and energetic twist to Seely’s catalog. This rowdy track, a favorite at the Opry, features Seely alongside Hannah Dasher and Tiera, produced by the acclaimed Rob McNelley. The song, solely written by Seely and recorded at Sony Tree Studio A, captures the spirit of a girls’ night out, showcasing the timeless appeal of her songwriting.

The series concludes on March 28th, 2025, with “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand),” a collaboration with Opry Next inductee Madeline Edwards. This rendition, co-produced by Edwards and McNelley, brings a fresh perspective to the iconic R&B hit, demonstrating Seely’s versatility and her ability to transcend genre boundaries.

Jeannie Seely’s impact extends far beyond her musical achievements. Her recognition as “Miss Country Soul,” her honorary Doctor of Arts from Lincoln Memorial University, and her numerous accolades, including the CMA’s Joe Talbot Award and the SOURCE Jo Walker-Meador Lifetime Achievement Award, underscore her profound influence on the industry.

Her groundbreaking achievements, from being the first female to regularly host Opry segments to wearing a mini-skirt on the Opry stage, challenged conventions and paved the way for future generations of female artists. Her songwriting prowess, evidenced by recordings of her songs by Country Music Hall of Fame members and artists across various genres, further solidifies her legacy as a true musical visionary.

Seely’s multifaceted career, encompassing stage productions, radio hosting, and authorship, speaks to her boundless creativity and unwavering dedication to her craft. Her weekly show, “Sundays with Seely,” on Willie’s Roadhouse on SiriusXM, continues to connect her with audiences, sharing her stories and insights.

The dedication of the “Jeannie Seely Interchange” at the Briley Parkway exit to the Grand Ole Opry House is a fitting tribute to her immeasurable contributions to country music and the Opry itself. It serves as a lasting reminder of her enduring legacy and her profound impact on the Nashville community.

Sony Music Publishing Nashville’s celebration of Jeannie Seely is more than just a musical tribute; it’s a testament to the power of mentorship, the enduring relevance of timeless music, and the importance of honoring the trailblazers who have shaped the landscape of country music. Through these cross-generational collaborations, Seely’s legacy is not only preserved but also amplified, ensuring that her influence will continue to inspire and resonate with audiences for generations to come.
