SHOW ME MUSIC FEST JOINS UNITED WAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR
JOPLIN, MO TORNADO RELIEF

Springfield, MO – The Show Me Music and Arts Festival announces a joint endeavor with the United Way of the Ozarks to raise support for long term recovery for the community of Joplin, MO.  On May 22nd, the most devastating tornado in US history struck the town of Joplin leaving 134 people dead and causing millions of dollars in damages. Joplin is considered a sister city of Springfield and many families reside within both communities. Throughout the three day music festival, Show Me Music Fest and United Way will be coordinating four primary activities to raise funds for the relief efforts. There will be a silent auction, a live auction, items for sale such as t-shirts and beach towels, and volunteers at all entrances taking donations and encouraging everyone to “Buck UP for Joplin”. All funds raised from these auctions will be sent to The United Way of Southwest Missouri and St. John’s Mercy Hospital, which provides 80% of the charity care (uninsured patients) in this region, and took a direct hit from the tornado.

The Show Me Music and Arts Festival is set to take place June 17-19 and features some of today’s most popular musical acts, celebrity chefs, and nationally touring comedians. Some of the talent appearing includes country superstars Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins, Big & Rich, Little Big Town and Kellie Pickler, as well as top pop acts Train and One Republic! Also joining the musical line-up is the YouTube sensation and popular trio, The Cleverlys (pictured left), who will open the festival fresh from the Stage Coach Festival in Los Angeles, California where they received rave reviews. The Chef’s Pavilion Stage will feature three top Food Network chefs – Robert Irvine (‘Dinner: Impossible’), Ellie Krieger (‘Healthy Appetite’), and Aaron McCargo (‘Big Daddy’s House’), and the Comedy Tent Stage will feature six nationally touring comedians, ready to provide some comic relief for festival attendees!

Additional attractions at the festival include the Show-Me Saloon Stage, a Kid Zone which includes thrill rides, games, and entertainment, the Show-Me Arts and Crafts area featuring over 30 exhibitors,  and many food and drink vendors featuring festival fare from all over the world. SMMF truly has something for everyone!
