Sandy Louise Tears In the Driveway

Tears In the Driveway – a heartfelt ballad from Sandy Louise

By Alan Shipston for Country Music News International Magazine

Sandy Louise sings about a common theme of family and long distance in her new single, Tears In the Driveway.  Co-writing with producer Bill Chambers, the inspiration came from Sandy’s own experience of travelling to reunite with her sister in Murray Bridge, South Australia.  The simple acoustic arrangement allows the vocal to be the centerpiece as Louise skillfully delivers a plaintive, yet reflective tone.  There is a true authenticity to her singing and Tears In the Driveway takes the listener back to a simpler time while digging into the complicated  geographic separation.

A solo acoustic guitar begins the story with an alternate bass line grounding the song with uncomplicated vigor.  Sandy serenades with,” The years go by quickly, shared sorrows on the phone, when the baby isn’t crying, and you get some time alone,” leads into the chorus as a pensive dobro moans underneath.  “Oh, little sister don’t you cry, I’ll be coming back to see you when the Murray’s running high,” as the singer laments precious time slipping by. The dobro returns for the turnaround as Louise introduces the second verse, ”Had another baby since I came back home, I been so busy working, some days I feel alone,’ expresses the universal assumption that life gets in the way.

Working with acclaimed musician and producer Bill Chambers on this latest track, Sandy offered this, “Bill and I both know how hard goodbyes can be. Life gets so busy when you’re supporting your own family that sometimes phone calls slip from weeks to months. Writing this song was about capturing the raw emotion of those goodbyes, the longing to reunite, and the bittersweet reality of time passing so quickly.”

Originally from Newcastle, Sandy’s music blends heartfelt storytelling with powerful captivating lyrics.  With four albums and half a dozen singles, Sandy has carved out a distinctive style that resonates with her fan base.  Her work has earned chart success across multiple country music charts culminating with winning the prestigious Rudy Brandsma Award for Excellence in Songwriting. A passionate advocate for the songwriting community, Louise also serves as the

Newcastle Regional Coordinator for the Australian Songwriters Association.

Tears In the Driveway not only offers listeners a glimpse into Sandy Louise’s personal story, but also speaks to a universal experience that many will connect with — the powerful mix of love, distance, and the ties that bind families together.
