Nashville, TN (August 16, 2012)  — Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, currently celebrating their 20th anniversary together, will perform the National Anthem for the first Southeastern Conference football game of the season on Thursday, August 30th
when South Carolina plays Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. The
celebrated bluegrass ensemble has become very well-known for their
stellar vocal arrangements and have been awarded the International
Bluegrass Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year seven times. Their
a cappella arrangements of gospel and pop songs have become a staple in
their live shows, gaining the adoration of fans and the respect of
their colleagues worldwide. Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will
no-doubt present a timeless version of “The Star Spangled Banner” before
an expected sold-out stadium full of sports enthusiasts. The game will
be broadcast on ESPN and begins at 6:00pm CST.
Prior to their National Anthem performance, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will stop by for a visit and concert at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in
Nashville. The band will perform a 45 minute show for the patients and
their families and visit with children after. The world-class facilities
at Children’s Hospital are a testament to Nashville’s dedication to the
health of children. Constructed in 2004 and expanded in 2012, the
271-bed hospital is a child-friendly place built on the science of
healing and has ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World
Report for the last six years.
Russell
Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out will appear at Vanderbilt for the
prestigious SEC season-opening game and visit the boys and girls at
Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital as part of the two-year old Children’s Hospital & Arena Tour coordinated
by Sherri George. Originally custom built for 2012 International
Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame Inductee Doyle Lawson, the tour is an
ultra-creative vehicle which combines helping hospitalized children with
inspiring national patriotism, and pairs National Anthem performances
at major sporting arenas with childen’s hospital visits in the same city
or region.  “The Tour offers a fabulous opportunity for putting artists
in a spectacular spotlight while providing an invaluable emotional
boost for kids and their parents,” said Sherri George. “We’re delighted
to welcome Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out as guests on our tour this
year. I know they’ll be a perfect fit to touch hearts and bring smiles
to the faces of the children they meet, and having heard their Anthem..
all I can say is, prepare to be STUNNED!! They’re truly amazing, and
it’s an honor to have them join Doyle this Fall in helping rock stadiums
with amazing bluegrass harmony and touch children’s hearts and lives
for good through this tour.”
“We
are deeply honored to have been asked to perform our country’s National
Anthem for the first SEC game of the season,” states Russell Moore.
“Most of us are avid sports fans and we’re all looking forward to
representing our country by performing our nation’s most important song
and enjoying one of our favorite sports as well. That said, nothing can
compare to the blessing that WE will receive when we visit the
Children’s Hospital. Our hope is that we bring smiles and laughter to
the children, and their families, who are battling illnesses that we
can’t even comprehend.”
