The Roys Join Somebody Cares For The Southeast Cause

Nashville, TN (May 20, 2011) — Two-time Inspirational Country Music’s Duo of the Year (2010, 2009) award winners, The Roys, recently joined Ray Stevens, Danny Gokey, Michael English, Gary Chapman, Karen Peck & New River and others to raise funds for the Somebody Cares For The Southeast cause. The event raised money for flood and tornado victims imperiled by the area’s recent storms, and 100% of the telethon’s proceeds will go to those in need. Viewers will be able to text the word “icare” to 37284 or log onto www.somebodycares.org to donate. The program begins airing on FamilyNet, Sunday, May 22 at 7 p.m. (EST) and will also broadcast via American Life Networks and other Christian networks such as Daystar in the coming weeks. They are a true inspiration.” To “give a little back,” the siblings brought along their hot-pickin’ band and performed two songs (“Give A Ride To The Devil”and “High Road)” from their new disc.

ABOUT SOMEBODY CARES
The “Somebody Cares” concept began in Houston in 1981 when a simple business card reading, “Somebody Cares, call 24 hours a day,” was distributed by founder Doug Stringer and others as they ministered to the lost on the streets of Houston. From there, Turning Point Ministries International began with Bible studies, evangelism outreaches, and discipleship ministries. Soon, the ministry was taking mission trips, planting churches, and sending out international ministries. In 1994, Somebody Cares Houston was officially formed as the outreach arm of TPMI. The organization has grown since then to encompass outreach efforts across the nation.
