PLA Media Announces AF Productions

PhotobucketPLA Media is happy to announce their latest collaboration, AF Productions. A special LLC joined just for the month of April to celebrate April Fools Day. “I love to laugh – often at myself and after all so much fodder to work with,” grins Lewis. “Life is far too serious and we could all enjoy a bit of good natured fun. So in the spirit of April Fools Day, “Laughter is the best medicine especially if it’s not mean spirited.” – Laugh on!

The history of April Fools Day or All Fools Day is uncertain, but the current thinking is that it began around 1582 in France with the reform of the calendar under Charles IX. The Gregorian calendar was introduced, and New Year’s Day was moved from March 25 – April 1 (New Year’s week) to January 1.

Communication traveled slowly in those days and some people were only informed of the change several years later. Still others, who were more rebellious refused to acknowledge the change and continued to celebrate on the last day of the former celebration, April 1. These people were labeled “fools” by the general populace.

AF Production and PLA Media hope you and yours live well, laugh often, release a few healthy endorphins, and enjoy a Happy April Fools Day!

Oak Ridge Boy Member William Lee Golden Makes a Momentous Decision

Photobucket

Oak Ridge Boy founding member William Lee Golden has made a historic decision.  After 30 years of cultivating his signature silver locks and ‘Mountain Man’ beard, Golden has called it quits and lobbed it off.

“I  figured that Before I Die (also the title of the song he sings on the Oaks current Cracker Barrel release It’s Only Natural) I wanted to see a bit more of my face and head,” he jokes with his usual aplomb. His wife Brenda and ten year-old son Solomon were surprised to see him clean shaven, but fear not, his signature long locks will be ‘recycled.’  “I’m having them turned into paint brushes.”

Golden has become a celebrated landscape artist often taking his easel and acrylic paints on the road when the Oaks tour an average 150 dates a year. He uses acrylic because they dry faster and makes it easier to travel.  The easel and paints were a Christmas gift a few years ago from Brenda and Solomon and he finds this creative outlet to be a catharsis for him and respite from life on the road.

His artwork hangs in the President George H.W. Bush Sir. Presidential Library Museum in College Station, Texas and has been featured at the prestigious Tulsa, OK. Gilcrease Museum, Tennessee State Museum for a special one man show and the Nashville International Airport as well as other prominent venues nationwide. “I’m picky about my paint brushes, plus, I wanted to add a little more of myself into each painting.”

Fashionista Stars Collide…Lynn Anderson goes  Ga Ga

Country icon, fashionista, and Grammy winner Lynn Anderson goes ” Ga Ga ” over Lady Gaga (formerly Stefani Germanotta). “I love her unpredictable trendsetting style and musical sensibilities,” shares Anderson, who herself has been called ‘Country Weekly’s Sexiest All-Time Country Star of the ‘70’s.’

The busy songstress is balancing work on several new projects as well as a busy tour schedule including a May UK run as well as renovating her new Music City home. She loves to trend set and enjoys shopping as one of her passions. Whether donning her signature  pink cowboy hat, Manuel shirt or jacket, a fedora, Jimmy Choo shoes, Isaac Mizrahi dress and walking the CMA red carpet, Anderson is equally at home in every spotlight. So, from now on, Anderson prefers to be called “Lady L A   L A !” Thank you very much!

“I’m always reinventing myself. I’m like Imelda Marcos. I have over 30 pairs of shoes and over 30 boots and manage to wear them all,” laughs Lynn. “I figured if Lady Ga Ga and Katy Perry can add a little more color to their Clairol, so can I.”

Is Survivor: Nicaragua’s Chase Rice a Country Hunk?

Photobucket

Six pack abs, country hunk and star of “Survivor Nicaragua,” Chase Rice is sick of all the girl’s throwing themselves at him. In desperation to be taken seriously as a songwriter and country crooner, Chase has made a resolution unlike most people. With most of America struggling with losing weight in time for swim suit weather, Chase has other plans.

Don’t be surprised if you see him chomping on a greasy cheeseburger, cheddar fries and a large chocolate shake. “I’m determined to pack on some pounds. My goal is to gain 20 pounds by the end of May so I Can be a bit ‘fluffy’ in my swimsuit,” exclaimed an exasperated Chase. The normally affable Chase is sick of picking up the numerous panties on stage at each performance, refusing phone numbers and room keys. “Hey, don’t get me wrong, I love women and am extremely flattered, but hey, I’m just one guy. I really want to be taken seriously and not be thought of as a sex symbol. I’m just a regular guy pursuing a music dream”

North Carolina native Adam Fisher, known for his outlaw ways and fun loving partying, has decided to move to LA, cut his hair and join the cast of glee, as Mr. Stanley Strummer, a wanna-be country star and guitar instructor at McKinley High. “I’m sick of being on 2nd Avenue having the time of my life with my band and searching for a record deal,” says Fisher. “This deal was hard to resist.”

Songsmith Barry Michael Makes “Dad” Discovery

Photobucket

Stockbridge Record’s Barry Michael, whose current single and video Uncountrify Me is climbing the charts, shares more than a passing resemblance to long time hit maker, TV and film star 70 year-old Mac Davis. The two share an easy winning smile, twinkling eyes, similar physique, signature brown curly locks, a love of music and songwriting, and, as it turns out possibly even DNA.

The good looking Georgia Hunk may well be the “love child” of Davis. “We’re having tests done, but after meeting, co-writing, and singing together, we both feel a natural connection and a special bond. He’ll always be my musical mentor. I admire him enormously and am honored to follow paths he has paved,” smiles Michael.

Davis is best known for penning the Elvis song, In the Ghetto as well as his hit, Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me and had his own hit TV series The Mac Davis Show.

Look for possible collaborations between the winsome duo.

Arguably one of the hardest working and most omnipresent virtuoso guitarists in Nashville, David Andersen is leaving his beloved city for the Soviet Union. Andersen, the official guitarist at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum has been invited to be entertainer at the Russian musical diplomat/cultural attaché at the Kremlin.

“I’ve enjoyed my experience in Music City and have made friends around the world. This opportunity will afford me the unique chance to spread the Nashville brand even further,” explains Andersen.

The dexterous ‘Renaissance Man,’ a composer, pianist, and guitarist have been the face of the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum welcoming visitor’s worldwide. Dubbed the ‘Ambassador of Music City’ and logged over 300,000 tunes, he has a fan base of over 1 million (from all 50 states and 90 nations around the globe).

Though invited to St. Petersburg in the past, the musician was particularly interested in visiting now that newly elected Vice Putin is in office. “I’m encouraged by Putin’s open-mindedness and progressive politics. The timing feels right.” Along with his regular gig at the museum, Andersen is seemingly everywhere. His appearances include stints at the Nashville Predators games, Mayor’s Office, Governor’s Ball, CMA Awards, Music City Rose Garden, TN State Museum, among others. He’s at ease hobnobbing with Governor Haslam, Mayor Dean, Executive Director TN State Museum Lois Riggins and others.

Michael Jonathon Joins Tea Party/ Coal Lobby

Photobucket

Fans of Michael Johnathon might be surprised to find out that the creator/host of successful syndicated radio show, “Woodsongs” is renouncing his green roots in favor of crass commercialism. Like his forbearers, Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan, Michael frequently mixes his folk Americana roots with social activism — his latest indictment on the coal industry “Appalachian Road” (Front Porch CD).  In an unexpected turn about he has decided to join the Republican Tea Party movement and has been tapped to write a signature song for the “clean energy” coal industry. “I’m sick of ‘folk rhymes with broke’!” laments Jonathon.  “My days of idealism are over. I’m taking care of number one and realize I’ve just been too naive. After all, what can one man do?  I’m just one guy trying to fight Goliath.  If you can’t beat ’em join ’em.”  In addition to writing a campaign for the coal industry, Michael will be campaigning for Newt Gingrich.  “Of all the candidates, he is the most enlightened.” remarks Michael.
