Old Dominion Closes Out Monumental 2025 Tour with Sold-Out Southern California Shows, Setting the Stage for a Global 2026
By Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine
Last week, country music’s reigning powerhouse, Old Dominion, brought their spectacular “How Good Is That – World Tour” to a roaring conclusion for the year with two unforgettable performances in Southern California: a sold-out night at the Toyota Arena in Ontario on December 10th and a final celebratory bow at the Dignity Health Arena in Bakersfield on December 11th. After a relentless year of touring and milestones, the 8-time Academy of Country Music “Group of the Year” delivered an exceptional finale, generating massive anticipation for what the group has planned for 2026.
The Artists: Old Dominion
Comprised of lead singer Matthew Ramsey, lead guitarist Brad Tursi, multi-instrumentalist Trevor Rosen, bassist Geoff Sprung, and drummer Whit Sellers, Old Dominion has solidified its position at the forefront of contemporary country music. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of mainstream country music’s most popular live groups” and “country music’s premiere craftsmen,” the band’s formula of fusing clever lyrical wit with infectious, hook-heavy, melodic, guitar-driven anthems has proven to be a winning one.
Their accolades speak volumes: they have notched nine No. 1 singles at country radio, surpassed six billion on-demand streams, and earned over a dozen RIAA Platinum and Gold certifications. Notably, they are the reigning 8X ACM “Group of the Year” and previously secured the CMA “Group of the Year” award for seven consecutive years—holding more “Group of the Year” titles between the two major awards shows than any other act in country music history.
A Year of Triumphs and Dedication
The band’s 2025 journey was a non-stop highlight reel. It centered around the release of their sixth studio album, Barbara, a dynamic, 13-track collection that the band considers their most personal yet. Released this past fall, Barbara widens their emotional and musical scope, blending their signature buoyant sound with deeper reflections on life, love, and mortality. Tracks like the introspective “Man Or The Song” and the heartfelt tribute “Miss You Man” showcase a maturity that anchors the album while maintaining the warmth and craftsmanship fans expect.
The “How Good Is That – World Tour” took their stadium-worthy set across the globe, with major arena and amphitheater performances in the UK, US, and EU. Beyond the stage, the group maintained an inspiring commitment to giving back. Their early 2025 Ryman residency and the U.S. legs of the tour helped raise over $300,000 to date for music education. This long-standing dedication was formally recognized in November at Save The Music’s annual Hometown To Hometown gala. That same day, Old Dominion cemented their legacy by receiving their star on the Nashville Walk of Fame, inducted by none other than legendary songwriter Vince Gill.
In between the world tour and industry honors, the band even launched their own destination festival, the inaugural Odies Beach Vacation in Florida, which has already announced its return for 2026.
Vegas-Scale Spectacle
December kicked off with a rare, two-night special engagement in Las Vegas with BARBARA. HITS. VEGAS at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. In partnership with Caesars Entertainment, these shows gave fans a fully elevated, Vegas-scale experience where the band delivered show-stopping performances, playing their latest album Barbara in its entirety alongside a selection of their biggest hits to a packed house.
The Road Ahead: 2026
With the final U.S. dates successfully wrapped, the curtain rises on an even bigger 2026 for Old Dominion. The band is scheduled for a highly anticipated return overseas, including a run through Australia and New Zealand in March, featuring a headlining performance at CMC Rocks QLD in Ipswich.
Once back in North America, they will head to Canada in April and May, hitting major markets with special guests Phil Vassar and Sacha.
