OAK TREE OPRY

We
just had a super good show with Greta Elkin from Londonderry, North
Ireland.  She does such a nice job, and is known as the ‘Queen of the
Irish Yodelers’ in her homeland.  Chari Miles dropped by for a few songs
too.  I like her style and her voice.  If you remember hearing those
pretty-girl sounding voices in the early Disney films like Snow White,
etc., you can hear some of that in Chari’s voice.  Very pretty, and very
country.  (Don’t forget, you heard about it here FIRST.  Chari and
Louie Heldenbrand are going to get married September 29th)  Our next
show is September 20th with a double-header.  Featured entertainers are
the Johnson Strings.  This is a family of eight I believe, all of them
play bowed instruments.  Fiddles, cellos, violins, violas, bass, etc.
They are just super great.  Not only do they do great country songs like
“Orange Blossom Special” they also play some of their favorite
classical music, and it makes for an extremely pleasant and restful
concert.  On the bill with them is the flamboyant singer from Minnesota,
Betty Rydell.  She is totally country, and plays a number of music
instruments.  You will enjoy this program very much, so come spend some
time away from the boob-tube on Friday, Sept. 20.  Doors open at 6pm,
show starts at 7pm.  Regular admission $7, reserved seats (sometimes
recommended especially if you are driving any distance) $10 at 712-762-4363
Nice night to have a lovely dinner at the Redwood Steak House (just on
the west edge of town go early, everything is cooked from scratch so it
takes a little time), and then take in a live show of great down-home
entertainment.
