Nashville, Tennessee –July 19, 2011 – Summer 2011 has been all about record breaking heat across America—a memorable time for one of the country/bluegrass industry’s hottest young artists –Nathan Stanley–to be doing a little ‘record breaking’ of his own.

Stanley’s latest radio single, Folsom Prison Blues, has just topped at the number #1 spot on the Power Source Country Charts Top 75—bringing the original 1955 Sun release of the Johnny Cash penned hit to re-connect with a new generation of listeners.  The fact that the delivery system to bring a classic country song to a re-visit at the top of the charts  happens to be an artists who is the musical heir to the Stanley family legend is a sweet victory to 18 year old Nathan Stanley.   His love of the “traditional” is exceeded only by his appreciation of his legacy as the grandson of industy pioneer, Dr. Ralph Stanley.

Nathan noted on the #1 of Folsom Prison Blues:

“A lot of young people don’t even know these older artists—normally they don’t get exposed to the giants because that’s not what Nashville is pushing right now. It’s not considered the cool thing.  By hearing me—someone my age doing this kind of music—I think it will be discovered by a new generation of listeners.  Country music is great! It started with pioneers like Jimmie Rogers and the Carter Family—then Bill Monroe and The Stanley Brothers. All down the line I’m in love with the history and the older generation artists who founded everything we  have today and I want to share that love of their music with other people.  I want other folks to hear my music and want to learn more about the great tradition of artists who came before me.”

Last week marked the release of Nathan’s performance/concept video of yet another great country classic—Long Black Veil.  Nathan’s 2011 update of the 1959 classic hit for Lefty Frizzell written by legendary country tunesmiths Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin is more compelling proof of the young artist’s belief that “hits are ageless.”

Filmed in historic Watertown, Tennessee with additional footage shot in nearby Lebanon, the mournful tale of Long Black Veil, from prison to grave, captures a score of famous faces—including Dr. Ralph & Jimmi Stanley, Ralph Stanley II,  The Clinch Mountain Boys, Laura Dodd, and a cameo appearance by Gene Higgins, President of the Christian Country Music Association. The video is being promoted by Aristo Media in Nashville in conjunction with HMG Music.

In the midst of a new generation of fans embracing his music, Nathan Stanley is a young man on the go.  In addition to his own concert dates, Nathan is a centerpiece of the energetic tour schedule Dr. Ralph maintains into his eighth decade of making music. Still based in Virginia, Nathan makes frequent business trips to Nashville where he oversees the operation of his own newly formed label, Stanley Generation Records.  In addition to his own music the label hosts a growing stable of artists including Ralph Stanley II and emerging new artist, Laura Dodd.

High on the list of things “to do” this summer is Nathan’s August 13-14th performance at the much anticipated Dukes Of Hazzard Homecoming being held ‘Back In The Blue Ridge’ of Sperryville, Virginia.  Ben Jones –‘Cooter’ on the original TV series and founder of Cooter’s Place is hosting the original cast and an expected overflow crowed of fans for the two day event which Nathan will decidedly  help keep ‘traditional’ on the music side.  Nathan can count ‘Cooter’ among his fans in Hazzard County,  Ben Jones notes on the website for the Dukes of Hazzard Homecoming: “It is really gratifying for me to hear a young performer who has a respect for the great artists of ‘real country.’  Nathan is the real deal.  He has paid his dues, learned his craft and found his niche.”

Nathan Stanley music is distributed by Sony Red and promoted by HMG Nashville. He is booked by Acts Nashville.
