Hollywood is getting a taste of Nashville on December 30th, when
Charlie Bonnet III and The Folkin’ Gasholes take the stage at The Whisky
A Go Go to open for one of their rock n roll idols, original Guns N
Roses drummer Steven Adler.
One quick internet search will show you that Charlie is no stranger to the 80’s hard rock scene. His 2017 cd, Sinner With A Song,
was mixed and mastered by Hollywood guitar legend Tracii Guns. Rave
reviews and hype from the release helped put his band, known as The
Folkin’ Gasholes, on stages and festivals across America, often opening
for his hard rock heroes. “We played The Whisky last summer with Love /
Hate, played with L.A. Guns twice, played the Sturgis rally in South
Dakota… This band has been working non stop for the past couple years”
he states proudly.
When the call came to open
for Steven Adler, Bonnet couldn’t say no. “I told my guys to go cheap
on their Christmas presents this year, because we’re heading back to the
west coast” he says with a laugh. “Appetite For Destruction is
one of the records that made me want to play a guitar in the first
place. To play with Adler at The Whisky, which is the mother church of
rock n roll, well you just can’t say no to that. That has ‘bucket list’
written all over it.”
Charlie urges rock fans
to not dismiss his band just because of their Nashville home.
“Everything we do is rooted in three chord rock n roll, with a Les Paul
and a Marshall amp” he states. “It’s not the Nashville sound you think
it is. Imagine Steve Earle with Junkyard as his backing band. That
would be a great description of what we sound like. Plus, I drink beer
out a gas can and cuss a lot. It’s real rock n roll, just with a
southern accent.”
